I had a trio of old songs buzzing around my head while playing this game.

The most dominant was soul classic There's Nothing Like This by Omar, thanks to the theme of the day, but it was competing for earworm space with The One and ONLY by Chesney Hawkes and Free Nelson Mandela by SPECIAL AKA.

Fortunately, that didn't distract me from a fairly straightforward game — although I did get some letter soup at the end while attempting to connect SINGULAR.

What is NYT Strands?

Strands is the NYT's not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It's now a fully fledged member of the NYT's games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
