Google's Discover personalized news and content feed has long been available on mobile devices, but it's now starting to appear for desktop users in select countries. The rollout began in New Zealand and Australia, where some users have noticed the Discover feed added below the Google search bar on the homepage. It's currently limited to certain regions and accounts, and it is not yet accessible to everyone.

For those who have it on desktop, Google Discover is shown beneath the search bar. It is said to have some differences compared with mobile. Images are smaller and placed in a square box to the left of each article. Users can read the first sentence of every article directly in the feed. When the browser window is maximized, an "At a glance" section appears, which users can customize by choosing from options like Finance, Sports, and Weather, as reported by Android Authority.

Early reports say that the desktop rollout could increase Discover-driven traffic for publishers by 10–15%, which is good for websites in general. For now, users can check if Discover is available to them by visiting Google with the country parameter set for New Zealand or Australia.

This marks another potential recent change in Google's homepage. In another test, the company recently replaced the iconic " I am feeling lucky "—which honestly, I can't even remember when I last clicked it—with " AI Mode " to compete with the likes of ChatGPT and Perplexity.

On the other hand, one reason I prefer Google is its clean homepage—unlike search engines like Bing , which are mostly cluttered with information. It's possible Google Search's clarity will soon be a thing of the past; hopefully, the company will provide users with the functionality to turn it off.
