Threads is testing a new display for podcasts, which would provide listeners with a transcript of the discussion synced with the audio, so that they can follow along, and consume podcasts even in sound-off environments.

As shown in this example, posted by 7PM in Brooklyn , the format would sync with Apple podcasts, and presumably other podcast players, embedding the playback and transcript within a Threads post.

That could be a handy way to share podcasts in the app, while also offering a more engaging format with expanded fan discussions in the Threads stream.

Threads Chief Connor Hayes also said the app is also testing other podcast display formats to give podcasters "more ways to share their episodes and get people talking on Threads."

It could be a good way to encourage community growth on Threads, allowing podcast discussions to stem from the clips and providing a simple click-through option to download the podcast audio.

Podcast consumption continues to rise among U.S. consumers, with 58% of all Americans listening to podcasts in 2026, according to Edison Research .

Though a potentially even more interesting data point within Edison's most recent Infinite Dial report is that video podcast consumption has now overtaken audio-only consumption, which feeds into this new presentation option on Threads.

Add to this the community benefits of expanded discussion around podcast episodes, and this could be a very beneficial focus for the Threads team.

Threads has also been developing various other podcast promotion tools, including podcast details on creator profiles .
