TikTok users reported intermittent service disruptions across multiple regions on Jan. 26, an issue that has lasted several days for the popular app.
Downdetector showed a spike in outages reported Sunday night, Jan. 25. The numbers dropped later that night and into Monday.
DownForEveryoneOrJustMe indicated that TikTok’s service was operating normally Monday afternoon, but logged several outages earlier in the day with total downtime stretches of about 58 minutes, 30 minutes and two hours. Users continued to submit reports of login issues, slow performance and inaccessible feeds.
The disruptions followed a wave of user complaints Sunday and overnight as thousands of users flagged problems loading videos, stalled uploads and feeds that failed to refresh. Independent outage monitors and social media posts showed complaints peaked during the early hours with error messages and unresponsive app features reported by creators and casual users alike.
TikTok’s newly formed U.S. entity, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, acknowledged on X, that a power outage at a data center in the United States was a primary cause of the issues, saying it was working with partners to stabilize operations.
