Hundreds of thousands of YouTube users are reporting problems with the video sharing platform.
More than 300,000 people reported having issues with YouTube as of 6:50 p.m. MT/ 7:50 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Feb. 17. according to downdetector.com. More than 9,000 also reported problems with YouTube TV on Tuesday evening.
On X, the hashtag "YoutubeDown" is trending, with many posting that they are unable to access the site.
What happened to YouTube?
YouTube said it was aware of the issue, and updates would be provided here.
There was also a post on the TeamYouTube account on X, which said "if you’re having trouble accessing YouTube right now, you’re not alone."
When will YouTube be back up?
According to updates shared by YouTube , an issue with its recommendations system prevented videos from appearing across surfaces on YouTube (including the homepage, the YouTube app, YouTube Music and YouTube Kids).
"The homepage is back, but we're still working on a full fix – more coming soon," the update said.
