Is Spotify Down? Music Streaming Platform Hit With Outages
In the first quarter of 2026 music streaming platform Spotify revealed that its monthly active users climbed 12% since 2025 to reach 761 million.
"We surpassed 760 million MAU, delivered on the subscriber growth we aimed to achieve, and saw healthy engagement from existing users, reactivations and new users alike," said Alex Norström, co-CEO .
"Since the global rollout of our more personalised free experience, users in key markets like the US are listening and watching more days per month. All that reinforces our confidence in sustained user and subscriber growth, low churn, and continued progress on revenue and margin."
A number of those users are having issues gaining access to the streaming platform on Tuesday morning, though.
Is Spotify Down?
Spotify doesn't appear to be working for a number of users, with DownDetector showing over 3,500 requests for Spotify over the past few minutes. A quick search on X - formerly Twitter - also shows users struggling to load their favorite songs.
The music platform isn't down for everyone though, as no worldwide outage has been identified as of yet. At Men's Journal at least one writer couldn't access Spotify, while another executive was able to access their own account.
The outages appeared to begin around 7 a.m. ET and have grown worse over the past hour.
Spotify addressed the outages following customer complaints on its "Spotify Cares" social media account.
"Hey there! Help's here. A quick reinstall should fix most common technical issues. Just head over to this page for some steps that could help: https://bit.ly/3XABs3V . If that doesn't do the trick, make sure your phone's software is up to date. Keep us posted," it suggested to one user.
Some users have reported the same error even after re-installing the platform.
