YouTube TV launches new plans that slash your monthly bill
It's finally happening. After years of price increases, YouTube TV is providing subscribers with more choices that will save you money. Starting this week, new and current subscribers will be able to choose from a variety of new plans that will come in way below the usual monthly price. While the main YouTube TV plan for $82.99/month will still exist, these new plans will allow subscribers to choose what they want to watch and pay less for it.
It's about time
For example, if you're someone that's into sports and only cares about that, well, you're in luck because YouTube TV will now offer a Sports Plan that costs $64.99/month. There will also be a Sports + News plan for $71.99/month, along with an Entertainment plan that costs just $54.99/month. In addition, YouTube TV will also have a News + Entertainment + Family plan that will cost $69.99/month.
The great part about all of this is that this is just the beginning. YouTube plans to roll out more plans over the next few weeks, and there will be more than 10 plans to choose from in total. Being able to choose a plan that meets your needs is definitely the way to go, and even better is that it can save you some money in the process.
Folks have been complaining about YouTube TV's price hike for a while now, so it's good to see the platform offering some kind of solution. YouTube TV is a live TV streaming service, which means it doesn't have its own original content like Netflix, HBO, Paramount+, and Disney+. So, going forward, it will continue to have to pay networks for content.
What this means that it will always need to negotiate new prices with broadcasters in order to continue to have content. And while this sounds like something that's fairly straightforward, we've seen what can happen when deals don't get done in time. Over the past year, YouTube TV has experienced channel outages due to negotiations and contracts not being completed in time.
Although YouTube TV needs to do its best to fight for its contracts, it's the subscribers that often get hit with inconveniences. Missing content for weeks at a time isn't something you often see from a streaming service. With that said, we hope that going forward, these negotiations will be smoother. There's no telling how long some of these channels will stick around, so it's a good idea to enjoy them.
