Following the release of the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic , Oura has announced a series of new software features and an app redesign. Here’s what’s new for the smart ring.

Oura says its latest redesign makes the app look more modern, while bringing more of the data important to you to the forefront. The three main screens — Today, Vitals, and My Health — remain, but lose the card-style layout for a more open style.

The Today section spotlights important data, along with your Readiness, Sleep, and Activity scores at the top, and still contained in neat little circlular icons. The Vitals screen has been overhauled with new color-coded sections, where cards use different colors to help understand which areas need attention, all at a glance.

My Health still shows long-term data, but now has a new Habits and Routines section where data can be linked to activity and lifestyle, helping you understand how what you do affects scores and ongoing health.

Additional changes include Cycle Insights going from a single month to 12 months of information, and the time required for personalized cycle prediction reducing from 60 days to just one day.

Blood Pressure Profile Study

Oura will begin a study which will allow it to spot early signs of high blood pressure, or hypertension, by using data from key markers. The study will be open to participating Oura members, and will help refine and validate a future feature for the Oura Ring, which will be submitted to the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval.

The study will start out with a simple questionnaire to help understand everything from family history of hypertension to current lifestyle, and return a simple-to-understand assessment indicating whether there are any signs of hypertension or not.

Oura's hypertension study and forthcoming feature follows a similar move from Apple, which introduced hypertension notifications with the Apple Watch Series 11 .

Cumulative Stress and Stress Management

Oura already tracks stress, and will introduce Cumulative Stress to its existing data points. It examines data collected over a month from movement during sleep, heart stress response, temperature, and activity to give a weekly overview.

It’s designed to show how ongoing stress can affect your body, and potentially help avoid fatigue, burnout, and illness. Part of this is the Stress Management view, where Cumulative Stress is added to your normal Daytime Stress and Resilience data points.

The new view will make trends easier to spot, and help you focus on recovery and lifestyle balance.

When will the features arrive?

All the new features will arrive soon, but exact times have not been confirmed. The redesigned app will come to both Android and iOS to Oura Ring 3 and Oura Ring 4 owners globally over the next weeks.
