Alongside the next-generation Pixel 11 series and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold , Google also announced the Pixel Watch 5. It doubles down on proactive health tracking and Gemini-powered intelligence while retaining the familiar design and hardware. The biggest addition to the latest wearable is passive blood pressure and insulin resistance tracking—two common invisible health risks. These are aimed at encouraging healthy habits.

New passive health tracking

Familiar health metrics

The Pixel Watch 5 continuously collects the physiological signals in the background, using its onboard sensors. Both new features turn a month of sensor data into a single summary instead of daily notifications.

Blood Pressure Trends analyzes the shape and speed of your pulse wave via the watch's optical sensor. Per Google, the underlying model was tested against 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Meanwhile, Insulin Resistance Trends offers early insight into metabolic data by combining heart rate, sleep, and movement gathered over a month.

If either feature detects persistently elevated trends over the month, the watch nudges you to make lifestyle changes and confirm the findings with a home monitor or a healthcare professional.

Google explicitly says that the new features are general wellness tools and not a replacement for clinical advice. They're coming to the Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4 , and Fitbit Air this fall.

The new additions arrive alongside the Readiness Score feature that tells you whether to push your limits or prioritize recovery before hitting the gym. The wearable device supports 50 workout modes, and the Google Health app lets you build custom strength and HIIT activities. The Pixel Watch 5 carries over loss of pulse detection, AFib alerts, SpO2, skin temperature, stress, and sleep tracking from the previous generation model.

Gemini Intelligence goes beyond voice commands

Safety and ecosystem features carry forward

Beyond the health-tracking capabilities , the Google Pixel Watch 5 ships with WearOS 7 and leans heavily into AI with Gemini Intelligence. Rather than one flashy feature, it shows up as a string of small, useful moments by proactively surfacing information based on message context. You can raise your wrist to ask Gemini almost anything. Some voice commands also work through offline Gemini, letting you run timers, alarms, and workouts. The smartwatch also surfaces useful context at the bottom of the screen, such as flight updates, ETAs, and other timely reminders.

Powering these experiences is the Snapdragon W5 Gen2 Accelerated chip, which is said to be 20 percent faster than the predecessor. The Pixel Watch 5's battery sees a modest gain that is rated to last up to 30 and 40 hours on the 41mm and 45mm models, respectively.

The Pixel Watch 5 largely keeps the familiar circular design and display of its predecessor. It continues to offer features like Satellite SOS, fall detection, and car crash detection, while remaining closely integrated with the Pixel ecosystem through features like Find Hub, Google Wallet, offline maps, Pixel camera control, watch gestures , and Google TV remote.

Pixel Watch 5 pricing and availability

The Pixel Watch 5's Wi-Fi and LTE versions in a 41mm dial size cost $399 and $499 . The 45mm model of the same variants is priced at $429 and $529 . It is available in multiple finishes, including a Stephen Curry special edition that is limited to the US region for $579.
