Carnival cancels 9 more cruises to add adults-only sailings
Carnival Cruise Line is once again clearing space on the calendar for the adults-only crowd — and this time, it's happening on one of the fleet's newest ships.
Passengers booked on select 2027 sailings aboard an Excel-class ship just received word that their cruise has either been canceled or converted into an adults-only sailing, as first reported by Cruise Spotlight on July 23.
Carnival didn't explain the specific reasoning behind the cancellations beyond operational changes, but the cruise line appears to reworking the ship's schedule to add multiple adults-only cruises to the mix.

Carnival cancels 9 Carnival Jubilee sailings amid switch to 21+ sailings on select dates
According to emails passengers received from Colleen Oliverio, Carnival's vice president of guest services, Carnival Jubilee sailings departing from Galveston, Texas on the following dates have been canceled:

Passengers booked on Jubilee's Sept. 4, 2027 sailing reported that their cruise wasn't canceled outright — it's instead being converted into a sailing exclusively for passengers 21 and older. That suggests that the cancellation of sailings around the same time period mean more adults-only cruises are coming.

"We recognize that this cruise may no longer meet your vacation needs, particularly if you were planning to travel with guests under the age of 21 years, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause," Oliverio stated in the email to guests booked on the Sept. 4, 2027 sailing.
Those traveling with someone under 21, or who simply don't want to sail on an adults-only cruise can cancel, or they can rebook with rate protection and receive an onboard credit — $50 per person, up to $100 per cabin.

Carnival made similar cancellations on Carnival Firenze
If this sounds familiar, it's because Carnival canceled 11 fall 2026 cruises on Carnival Firenze earlier this year. Those canceled cruises from Long Beach, Calif., were later replaced with SEA cruises (sailings exclusively for adults).
The Carnival Firenze sailings, originally scheduled as three- and four-night trips to Baja Mexico, were canceled for sailing dates in October and November 2026. Carnival cited operational reasons for the cancellations, and later revealed new SEA cruises from Long Beach to fill the dates with longer adults-only itineraries.

Unlike Carnival's earlier SEA cruises, which were introduced to fill gaps left by dry dock schedule changes, neither the Firenze nor the Jubilee changes are dry dock related. Instead, both land during the fall, when fares usually run cheaper and less families are typically on board anyway.
SEA cruises on Carnival Jubilee point to strong demand for adults-only sailings
There's one notable first here: Carnival Jubilee's 21+ sailings will mark the first time the cruise line has offered SEA cruises aboard an Excel-class ship, its largest and newest ship class.
That's something worth watching — Carnival isn't reserving the adults-only concept for older ships. It's testing the format on ships that still draw plenty of family bookings, which suggests the line is seeing strong demand for upscale, adults-only sailings with a casino focus.
TravelHost's Come With Me Editor in Chief Dan Kline, who's sailing on a SEA cruise in August, thinks the move makes sense, considering bigger ships have bigger casinos.
"I think they need to do those on better ships, because I'm concerned that everything will get overwhelmed and the casino will be crowded," Kline said. "Holding them on bigger ships give them a lot more options."

SEA cruises promise more casino space and extended playing time, elevated dining menus, and adult-focused entertainment. In most cases, casino loyalty program members get first access to these sailings before the general public can request an invite through Carnival's website.
As of July 24, Carnival Firenze's 2026 SEA cruises are the only adults-only sailings available to book, but 2027 sailings on Carnival Jubilee may be coming soon.
