Disney Cruise Line Is Getting 3 New Ships—And We Just Got Our First Look
Even more magic is coming to the high seas starting in 2029.
Disney Cruise Line has been expanding rapidly over the past few years. Since 2022, Disney has launched a handful of new cruise ships, including the Disney Wish in 2022, Disney Treasure in 2024 , Disney Destiny in 2025 , and Disney Adventure in 2026. And in late 2027, Disney's newest ship, Disney Believe , will take to the high seas for the first time. But now Disney is giving fans a glimpse into the next class of cruise ships.
The unnamed class was first announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, and at this year's D23 Disney Experiences Showcase, Disney shared even more about the upcoming vessels. First off, there will be three ships in this new class, with the first one launching in 2029. The following two ships will launch in late 2029 and 2030, bringing Disney's fleet to 13 ships.
These new ships will be sized between Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, both of which can accommodate about 2,700 guests, and the larger Dream Class and Wish Class ships, which can carry about 4,000 guests. Disney's biggest goal with these new ships is to increase the number of places these vessels can take guests and reach new audiences that Disney hasn't been able to before.
During the Disney Experiences Showcase, Claire Weiss, portfolio executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, showed the enamored crowd a very first look at the new class of ships with a video never before seen by the public. The video highlights some of the new features coming to these three new vessels, including a state-of-the-art lightweight design, greater energy efficiency, and an optimized hull.
As an avid Disney cruiser, the thing that struck me most from the teaser video is a starboard panoramic window (or right side for you landlubbers) on what looks like deck four of the ships. That could offer incredible ocean views from the ship's atrium. It also looks like the deck four promenade could go all the way around the ship, which fans have been asking for since the Wish class promenade is spread over a few decks.
While we'll have to wait a bit longer to learn more about the new Disney Cruise Line class of ships, the online response was generally positive, with fans saying things like "Oh so ready," "You know we'll be there," and "So excited."
