MSC Cruises Sends Its New Flagship to the Caribbean in 2027

As MSC Cruises continues its U.S. expansion, the global cruise line is shaking up its Winter 2027/28 deployment to send its highly anticipated new MSC World Asia cruise ship to the most popular cruise region for American travelers — the Caribbean.

Beginning in late 2027, MSC World Asia will bring the line's Asian-inspired World Class experience to the Southern Caribbean, with seven- and 14-night itineraries, with options to depart from Fort-de-France, Martinique; Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe; and Bridgetown, Barbados.

Itineraries will explore some of the region's most culturally rich ports, including Castries, Saint Lucia; St. George's, Grenada; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda; Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis; Roseau, Dominica ; and Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The third ship in MSC Cruises' innovative World Class series, MSC World Asia combines the line's European design with global influences. The ship arrives loaded with the line's latest features, including attractions like the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride and The Spiral @ Tree of Life dry slide , the largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea, a new Pan-Asian dining concept , vibrant family entertainment venues , and expansive outdoor spaces perfect for enjoying the Caribbean's warm winter weather.

"Our World Class ships have been a great success with guests, and MSC World Asia, the third of eight in this class, marks the next step in this journey," MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato said in a press release .

Currently under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France, MSC World Asia will launch on Dec. 4, 2026 with seven-night Mediterranean itineraries before repositioning to the Caribbean in fall 2027.

Three World Class ships will sail in the Caribbean

The move means MSC will have three of its newest World Class ships sailing in the Caribbean for Winter 2027/28:

  • MSC World America— offering seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami

  • MSC World Atlantic— a new ship debuting from Port Canaveral in November 2027, sailing seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages

  • MSC World Asia— sailing the Southern Caribbean from Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Barbados

Concentrating three World Class ships in one region in a single season is a clear sign of how much confidence the line has in Caribbean demand — and it gives its growing base of loyal U.S. cruisers an easy path to book MSC World Asia without crossing an ocean to sail on her.

MSC World Europa will stay put in the Mediterranean

The line's first World Class ship, MSC World Europa, will remain in the Western Mediterranean for Winter 2027/28, rather than move to the Middle East as originally planned. The ship will continue offering seven-night itineraries to ports including Barcelona, Spain; Marseille, France; Genoa, Italy; Civitavecchia, Italy; Messina, Italy; and Valletta, Malta.

With the deployment changes impacting existing reservations for Winter 2027/28 cruises on MSC World Asia in the Mediterranean as well as MSC Meraviglia in the South Caribbean, MSC is updating bookings and contacting passengers directly regarding changes to their sailings.

What MSC's big Caribbean move means for US cruisers

For cruisers who've been eyeing MSC World Asia but didn't want to book a flight to Europe, this deployment shift is good news. With MSC World America, MSC World Atlantic, and now MSC World Asia all sailing from convenient U.S. and Caribbean embarkation ports next winter, there will be more ways than ever to experience MSC's newest ships without leaving the region.

As always, deployment plans this far out can shift, so working with a travel advisor who tracks these changes — and can move your booking if something changes — is worth it for anyone planning a winter 2027/28 cruise now.
