Contour Adds New Airport

Contour Airlines this fall will reconnect Williamsport Regional Airport in Pennsylvania.

The airline announced Wednesday that it will serve Williamsport from Charlotte, North Carolina , starting Oct. 19. Flights will operate daily using 30-seat regional jets.

Williamsport has been without scheduled commercial air service since early August, when Southern Airways Express abruptly terminated flights to and from Washington Dulles. Southern accused the Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority of falling behind on contributions to its minimum revenue guarantee, while the airport authority said Southern changed its invoicing format and implemented new, unexplained charges.

Following Southern's withdrawal, airport officials said they were working to bring in a new airline .

"This route gives travelers in the Williamsport region an easy connection to Charlotte and the many destinations available from there, while also making air travel more accessible for those who live and work in the area," Contour President Ben Munson said in a news release.

Contour mainly operates short-haul regional routes within the continental U.S. and eastern Caribbean.
