The First Snowflakes of the Season Just Hit These Idaho Mountains

Old Man Winter has officially shown his face in parts of Idaho, where a dusting of snow fell at higher elevations overnight. The summit of Brundage Mountain Resort, in McCall, Idaho, got a nice coating of snow, that lingered through the early hours of Friday morning.
Temperatures on the mountain lingered in the high 30's and low 40's overnight and while it seems most of the snow had melted away by mid-morning, it's a promising sign that winter is on the way.
While forecasts have things warming up near McCall through the rest of the holiday weekend and into next week, showers could continue into Saturday.
Brundage unfortunately had to end their summer lift operations early, the resort announced earlier this week. A mechanical issue on the BlueBird Express chair was discovered, requiring the lift maintenance team to source a replacement part and close the lift for the remainder of summer.
While lift-accessed mountain biking and hiking aren't on the table for September, Brundage still has trails open for XC riding as well as events scheduled through the rest of the month.
Currently, November 27 is Brundage's scheduled opening day for the 2026/27 winter season, conditions permitting.
Nearby, Tamarack Resort's webcams also showed a storm coming in overnight with blustery winds and snow falling on the Summit cam. Tamarack didn't see quite as much accumulation as Brundage, but trace amounts of snow were still seen on the webcams early this morning. Tamarack is also scheduled to open for the 2026/27 season on November 27, conditions permitting.

Parts of Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Canada all saw snow this week as well. Fall might not officially start for another couple of weeks, but winter is clearly on its way.
