Hard Rock Las Vegas Strip Megaresort Makes Crucial Change Ahead of Grand Opening

Construction on the Las Vegas Strip has reached an accelerated milestone as crews transition to a continuous around-the-clock schedule on the redevelopment of the former Mirage complex.

The Hard Rock extensive project is transforming the central boulevard parcel into a flagship resort anchored by a 42-story, 660-foot-tall guitar-shaped hotel tower, replacing the historic volcano attraction.

Following the structural topping out of the main tower, work across the property has changed to high-visibility exterior finishes and extensive interior mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations. The multi-phase development remains on schedule for an official grand opening in late 2027 under the ownership of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Exterior progress is currently focused on the signature glass curtain wall. Construction teams are placing blue-glass facade panels in stacked vertical bands across the structure, utilizing two distinct glass shades to outline the contours of the guitar body and string tones.

Mounting hardware is also being affixed along the front face of the building to support an illuminated LED guitar-string lighting system that will span the full height of the tower.

According to a detailed construction update published by 500 Nations , guest-room framing is advancing floor-by-floor inside the tower while workers reconfigure the existing tri-tower complex. The comprehensive master plan features:

• Overall resort accommodations totaling nearly 3,700 rooms, including 650 to 675 luxury rooms and suites in the guitar tower

• An expanded 175,000-square-foot casino floor featuring more than 2,000 slot machines, multiple table game pits, and a dedicated sportsbook lounge

• A new 5,000-seat Hard Rock Live theater alongside a secondary 2,000-seat West Theater housed in a five-story entertainment center

• More than 200,000 square feet of modernized convention, meeting, and event facilities

• A multi-concept food hall paired with new casual dining venues and signature celebrity restaurant concepts

The reconfiguration extends into back-of-house operations, a redesigned pool complex, and updated retail promenades to replace the venue footprints of the previous resort.

Hard Rock Timeline and Strip Footprint

Located at 3400 South Las Vegas Boulevard, the property occupies a high-traffic center-Strip position between Caesars Palace and Treasure Island.

The project represents one of the largest tribal hospitality ventures on the Strip following the acquisition of the resort from MGM Resorts and the subsequent structural overhaul.

The initial phase focuses on the guitar tower, gaming floor, primary entertainment venues, and a redesigned porte-cochere entry plaza. Future phases are slated to bring additional retail square footage, new dining options, and expanded pedestrian plaza enhancements along the Strip corridor.
