Popular Cirque du Soleil show leaves Las Vegas Strip, refunds available

Cirque du Soleil's Mad Apple will close at New York-New York Hotel & Casino on September 5, 2026, ending the show's Las Vegas run after more than four years.

Cirque announced the closing August 15. According to FOX5 Las Vegas , the production opened May 12, 2022, and drew more than 1.2 million guests during its run. The show combined acrobatics, live music, dance, magic and stand-up comedy, and it was the first Cirque du Soleil resident production to feature stand-up comedy.

That leaves travelers with a fairly short window to see the show. Performances continue through September 5, with tickets still being sold through Cirque du Soleil's official site. Cirque's current ticket page describes Mad Apple as a 90-minute production at New York-New York and says guests must be at least 18 years old because of adult themes and language.

The Final Shows Are Coming Up

The show's closing date is particularly relevant for visitors who already have a Las Vegas trip booked for late August or early September.

Mad Apple was designed around New York nightlife, mixing circus performances with comedy and music rather than following the format of some of Cirque's more traditional productions. Its official materials describe the show as a combination of high-flying acrobatics, music, dance and comedy, with a bar incorporated into the stage area. Cirque du Soleil's press materials still describe the production as a New York-inspired Las Vegas experience.

The current schedule means September 5 is the final opportunity to see the show. Visitors who already have tickets for performances after that date do not need to guess what happens next. Cirque said ticket holders for performances scheduled after September 5 will be contacted by their point of purchase with refund or exchange information.

For travelers considering a last-minute booking, the official ticket page currently lists Mad Apple as performing at New York-New York, with tickets available online. It also confirms the 18-and-over age requirement.

Cirque Will Keep Four Las Vegas Shows

The closure does not mean Cirque du Soleil is leaving the Strip. The company said four resident productions will continue: Mystère at Treasure Island, O at Bellagio, at MGM Grand and Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay.

Cirque du Soleil CEO Mark Cornell said the production had a specific role in the company's Las Vegas lineup.

"Mad Apple introduced stand-up comedy to a Cirque du Soleil resident show for the first time," Cirque du Soleil CEO Mark Cornell said.

Cornell also said the company remains focused on developing its next generation of Las Vegas shows. Cirque is supporting the Mad Apple cast, technicians and staff through the transition, including possible opportunities to move into other productions where available.

For visitors who want to see Mad Apple , the deadline is now clear. September 5, 2026, is the final performance date, so anyone hoping to catch the show before it closes should check the remaining schedule rather than assuming additional dates will be added.
