11 pressing Severance questions that need answering in the Season 2 finale
The finale of Severance hits Apple TV+ this week, wrapping up a wildly successful second season.
The series has a strong 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, and fans are in a frenzy to see what happens to MicroData Refiners Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly R. (Britt Lower), Irving B. (John Turturro) and Dylan G. (Zach Cherry). Lumon's secrets have slowly been revealed over the first nine episodes of the season, but what's in store for Episode 10?
Here are some of the most pressing questions we have for the "Cold Harbor" finale episode:
1. Will Mark ultimately save Gemma?
The end of season one had Outie Mark realize that his wife, Gemma, did not actually die in a car crash as he was told. Instead, we now know that Gemma is living somewhere in the bowels of Lumon, severed to experience multiple awful things that coincide with the projects the MicroData Refiners worked on. Will he be able to save her from her repetitive, hellish life?
2. Is Harmony going to help Mark to get revenge against Lumon, or or will she sacrifice him to get back in with the company?
During Episode 9, Mark and Devon met with Cobel in the woods to devise a plan to get access to Mark's Innie at the Lumon birthing cabins. We found out earlier in the season that Cobel is the one that actually created the severance technology, so is she out to get the company back? Or is she missing the grind of the evil empire and trying to use Mark as a pawn to get "the board" to let her back in?
3. Will we find out who Irving has been calling?
Who is on the other end of that phone call? Where is the train taking him? Irv, are you okay?
4. What is in the Cold Harbor room, and what happens when Mark finishes the data refinement?
This is one of the biggest -- if not the biggest -- question of the season. What will actually happen when Mark takes the Cold Harbor file from 96% to 100%? Will this be bad (terrible??) for Gemma? Is this end game for Helena?
5. What did Jame Eagan mean when he told Helly R. that she "tricked" him?
So much confusion and questions from one little comment. What is Helena -- and therefore Helly R.'s -- role in all of this? Where even is Jame Eagan hiding?
6. Will Mark truly get re-integrated?
Call me a skeptic, but I don't think basement brain surgery was a great idea.
7. What role do Ricken and Devon play, and can they be trusted?
Ricken has been a big question mark (no pun intended) from the beginning. Why is the seemingly much cooler Devon with Ricken? Is the bed-switching trauma going to make a re-appearance? Devon has had questions about the severed birthing cabins from the jump, so how did she get locked into that? Does she have some other role to play here?
8. Will Jame Eagan get his "revolving" or be thwarted?
Remember in the Season 1 finale, Jame spoke about Helena sitting with him at his "revolving." What is a revolving? And does it have to do with what's happening to Gemma, allowing ... something to happen to Jame?
9. Is there anyone else living on Gemma's floor?
Is Gemma the only multi-severed person on the secret lower floor?
10. What is with the goats?
But seriously, what is with the goats? And the goat people?
11. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!
I guess we are all just waiting for Thursday night.
