AC/DC tour will rock and roll through Southern California, Las Vegas

After nearly a decade, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band AC/DC has announced its first full-scale North American tour, which includes concerts in Las Vegas and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. 

The "2025 Power Up" tour, AC/DC's first North American string of gigs since 2016, will rock 13 stadiums beginning on April 10 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The AC/DC tour shares its title with the band's 2020 album, "Power Up."

The band's tour lineup includes lead guitarist Angus Young, vocalist Brian Johnson, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and bassist Chris Chaney, according to Variety. 

The tour will be Johnson's first run since the band's 2016 tour when he suffered hearing loss. During that time, Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose filled in for him, Variety said. 

After a stop in Minnesota, AC/DC will perform on April 14 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. 

Pasadena, Las Vegas stops

AC/DC will then head west to perform on April 18 at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, northeast of Los Angeles.

With a stadium capacity of nearly 90,000, the Rose Bowl has played host to plenty of concerts, five Super Bowls, two Summer Olympic games, the World Cup, and more. 

The band will leave the U.S. to perform on April 22 at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

AC/DC will return to the U.S. to perform on April 26 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, the home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.

Marilyn Johnson, a Victorville resident and self-dubbed "old school rocker," told the Daily Press she can't decide whether to attend the AC/DC concert in Pasadena, Las Vegas, or both.

"I saw them at Coachella and Dodger Stadium in 2015," said Johnson, who attended her first AC/DC concert in 1996 when the band performed at the Great Western Forum, now Kia Forum, in Los Angeles. "This might be the band's final tour so attending two concerts in a month would be worth it."

• May 5:  Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts

• May 8: Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

• May 12: Northwest Stadium, Landover, Maryland 

• May 16: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida

• May 20: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee

• May 24: Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois

• May 28:  Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland, Ohio

AC/DC tour tickets go on sale on Friday, Dec. 6 at noon local time.

Highway to fame

AC/DC was formed in Australia in Dec. 1973 and, after rocking the globe, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. 

The band has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, with popular song titles like "Back in Black," "Highway to Hell," "TNT," "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)," and their biggest hit, "You Shook Me All Night Long."  

In 2020, AC/DC celebrated the 40th anniversary of the band's biggest album, 1980's "Back in Black." Loaded with singles like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hells Bells," and "Shoot to Thrill," the album has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.
