Armory Art Center to showcase artists-in-residence works in new exhibition

Armory Art Center's pair of artists-in-residence will showcase their work during the center's upcoming exhibition.

Artists John Lark and Ali Saunders are the 2023-24 artists-in-residence for the institution, which through the program provides studio space for the selected artists, who in turn teach at least one class at Armory during their residency, according to a news release.

The show runs from March 11 to April 30 at the center's West Palm Beach campus, 811 Park Place. An opening reception that is free and open to the public will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 14, Armory said in the news release.

"We can't wait to celebrate these exceptionally talented working artists at the Armory Art Center this spring," Lianna Slater, Armory's exhibition and events coordinator, said in the news release. "Not only do they exemplify excellence, but they also have the ability and passion it takes to share their knowledge with our students — making them true master artists."

John Lark, whose show is titled "Measurements and Attachments," is the artist-in-residence for painting, drawing and 2D media. Through his oil paintings, he explores how figures and their environments interact. This is his second year as an artist-in-residence at Armory Art Center.

Ali Saunders, whose show is "Space Dots," is the artist-in-residence in ceramics. She is known for using bright colors and patterns on her pottery.
