Amber Heard is a mother of 3. What she’s shared about her kids and journey to motherhood

Amber Heard is a proud mother to three children: a 4-year-old daughter and a set of newborn twins.

After welcoming daughter Oonagh Paige in April 2021, the "Aquaman" actor shared May 11 that she was "elated beyond words" to add twins to their family.

Accompanying a photo of her babies' feet, Heard wrote in the caption that daughter Agnes and son Ocean were "keeping my hands (and my heart) full."

For all three of her children, Heard has not publicly identified a father. She has, however, been open about her "fertility challenges," owning her independent route to motherhood.

"I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib," Heard wrote in 2021, announcing the birth of Oonagh.

Heard's daughter, Oonagh Paige, was born in April 2021

Oonagh Paige Heard was born on April 8, 2021. Heard shared the news of her daughter's birth through a July 2021 post on Instagram .

"I'm so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child," Heard wrote at the beginning of the post.

Heard then spoke about approaching motherhood on "(her) own terms," and not necessarily through a marriage. For context, Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp in 2016, five years prior.

She also touched on her position as a public figure. "A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone's business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this. She's the beginning of the rest of my life," she said, before delving into the specifics of her daughter's name and birthdate.

"She's the beginning of the rest of my life," she added.

Oonagh name's meaning has a personal significance

Oonagh is an Irish name and means "lamb," according to Nameberry . The baby's middle name pays homage to Heard's mom, Paige Heard, who died in 2020.

"She taught me everything I know about kindness and love and gave me my heart," Amber Heard wrote of her mom on Instagram .

In 2025, Heard shared that she welcomed twins: daughter Agnes and son Ocean

In a surprise Mother's Day announcement , Heard shared on May 11, 2025, that she has welcomed twins, daughter Agnes and son Ocean.

"This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I've strived to build for years," Heard captioned the post, in part. "Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang. My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full."

Recalling her world being "changed forever" after welcoming Oonagh, Heard said she thought she "couldn't possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!!"

"Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life," she continued. "I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully."

To conclude her message, Heard celebrated all mothers "wherever you are today and however you got here," signing the post, "A x."

Heard has not publicly identified a father

As she wrote in her announcement posts, Heard took an independent route to motherhood. She has not disclosed any details about any of her children's father.

In an Instagram post , she called herself Oonagh's "mom and dad."

She mentioned Oonagh during her testimony in 2022 defamation trial

Heard mentioned her daughter just once during her four days of testimony during a highly-publicized 2022 defamation trial. Heard's ex-husband, Depp, sued her for $50 million in damages over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post, in which she identified as a survivor of domestic violence.

While Depp was not named in the op-ed, Depp's legal team  wrote in a complaint  the op-ed is a "clear implication that Mr. Depp is a domestic abuser." Depp denied all allegations of abuse.

Heard countersued for $100 million in damages, on the grounds that Depp's team "unlawfully targeted her" in an "online smear campaign" against her.

"I want to move on with my life. I have a baby. I have to move on. I want to move on, and I want Johnny to move on too," she said during the trial.

Ultimately, the jury concluded both Depp and Heard defamed one another. There were three statements at issue in Heard's counterclaim. The jury found one statement defamatory and awarded $2 million in damages to Heard.

The jury unanimously found "clear and convincing evidence" that Heard defamed Depp when she wrote the op-ed, effectively rejecting her testimony. Depp was  awarded $10.4 million in damages  by the jury.

After the verdict was announced, Heard told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie that she was looking forward to life after the trial. "I get to be a mom full-time, where I'm not having to juggle calls with lawyers," she said at the time.

Heard posts about her children on Instagram

Heard occasionally shares updates about daughter Oonagh on her Instagram page, like for her first birthday celebration. "My little O is a year old today. I still can't believe you're here. The greatest year," she wrote.

In another post , she called Oonagh her "co-pilot."
