Will 'The Bear' End With Season 4? Everything We Know So Far
- FX's acclaimed dark dramedy The Bear has been secretly renewed for a fourth season, which was filmed back-to-back with the third season.
FX's dark dramedy The Bear has snowballed from an under-the-radar indie hit into one of the most acclaimed shows on TV. For the uninitiated, the series follows an award-winning chef ( Jeremy Allen White) who returns home to Chicago to run his family's struggling sandwich shop (The Beef), and takes on the ambitious task of turning it into a Michelin-star restaurant (The Bear) while grappling with the aftermath of his brother's suicide.
Here's everything we know so far about The Bear Season 4, including the cast and release date.
Is there going to be a Season 4 of The Bear ?
Although FX is yet to officially renew The Bear , the show was "secretly" renewed for a fourth season earlier this year, per Variety . This essentially means that the show was renewed behind-the-scenes, because its fourth season was filmed back-to-back with its third, but FX is holding back the public announcement until after Season 3 premieres.
Who is cast in The Bear Season 4?
While the Season 4 cast list hasn't yet been confirmed, it's likely that the Season 3 ensemble will all return, which means:
Jeremy Allen White
The Bear Season 3 - Jeremy Allen White as Carmy in "The Bear" on HuluFX/Hulu
White will return to play Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, a talented but dysfunctional chef whose perfectionism and unresolved trauma make for a tough combination. He won a 2023 Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy for the performance.

Ayo Edebiri
Hulu
Edebiri plays Sydney, a talented young chef who inspires and challenges Carmy, and often clashes with the "old guard" of long-time employees at The Beef. Edebiri, like White, has shot to fame thanks to her acclaimed role in the series, and she also won a 2023 Emmy in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy category.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach
Hulu
Moss-Bachrach plays Richard "Richie" Jerimovich, the abrasive but loyal longtime best friend of Carmy's late brother Mikey, who's so close to the Berzatto family that he's famously known as "cousin." Moss-Bachrach, who prior to this role was best known to TV fans as Desi in Girls , won a 2023 Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy.
Abby Elliott
FX
Saturday Night Live alum Elliot plays Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, Carmy and Mikey's sister, who spends a lot of (justified) energy worrying about her surviving brother's mental health. As of Season 2, she was also pregnant with a child of her own, adding a new layer to the Berzattos' complex family dynamics.
Lionel Boyce
Hulu
Boyce plays Marcus, a wunderkind pastry chef whose skills were being largely wasted at The Beef, but who flourishes once Carmy and Sydney recognize his talent.
Liza Colón-Zayas
Hulu
Colón-Zayas plays Tina, a veteran line cook who's initially resistant to all the changes taking place at The Beef, but gradually softens and forms a bond with Sydney.
Matty Matheson

Chef and food personality Matheson had never acted before The Bear , and originally came onboard primarily as a consulting producer. But his role as handyman Neil Fak has evolved into an integral part of the ensemble.
Jon Bernthal
Hulu
Bernthal has a small but pivotal role as Carmy and Nat's late brother Mikey, typically appearing in just one episode per season in flashbacks.
How did The Bear Season 3 end?
The third season of The Bear wraps up after Ever's funeral dinner. As Carmy's walking home, he looks at his phone and sees a number of missed calls from Jimmy and Computer ( Brian Koppelman), Jimmy's financial manager, and a Google alert that the Chicago Tribune has published its review of The Bear. Carmy reads the review, and while we don't see the full text, we see a number of words, including "confusing," "excellent," "dissonance," "innovative," "disappointed," "overdone," "sloppy," "inconsistent," "incredible," "stale," "simple," "complex," and "talent." It seems like a mixed review at best.
He swears, and looks up at the El train speeding by above him, as the screen fades to black and says, "TO BE CONTINUED."
That means Season 4 will pick up where Season 3 leaves off. We'll find out what Sydney decides to do, or if Jimmy makes the decision for her by following through on his threat to shut The Bear down if it gets a bad review.
