All of the Cameos in 'Happy Gilmore 2,' Explained

The wait is finally over. After 30 years, Adam Sandler is back as one of his most beloved characters in Happy Gilmore 2 (now streaming on Netflix). Reviews have been mixed , but fans are sure to love the nostalgia-ridden follow-up. Our review was largely positive, calling the sequel an unexpectedly emotional return to form which is not only "one of Sandler's best Netflix collaborations" but one of the comedian's "finest comedies in at least a decade."

One of the most notable aspects of Happy Gilmore 2 is the heavily touted cameos, such as Travis Kelce, Margaret Qualley, and a number professional golfers including Scotty Scheffler. "People love [the original], and I get that, because I'm a fan of the first one," director Kyle Newacheck said in the film's press notes. "A lot of these guys, the golfers and people who are near and dear to Adam Sandler and the movie, they all wanted to come and say hi and play and be a part of it and contribute to the second one."

So who exactly appears in Happy Gilmore 2 , and what do they do? Read on to discover all about the film's innumerable cameos. Warning: Spoilers abound.

Who does Travis Kelce play in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

One of the sequel's most-hyped appearances , Kelce plays an aggressive, sports-obsessed waiter who serves Happy and a group of veteran golfers at a charity event. He also fires a waiter played by Bad Bunny, which opens up an opportunity for the rapper-turned-actor to become Happy's caddy. In a later fantasy sequence, Bad Bunny ties Kelce to a pole and slathers him with honey before sicking a hungry bear on him. "Is this about the job?" Kelce asks as the bear chomps down.

Is Scottie Scheffler in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Scheffler basically has a supporting role rather than a cameo, appearing frequently in the second half. His first scene finds him interviewed by inept presenter Gary Potter (Kevin Nealon), who asks him, "Scotty, if you're the best, does that make everyone else the worst?" Scheffler returns a few scenes later to ask the infamously violent Happy some advice on how to wage (and win) on-course skirmishes.

Most notably, Scheffler pokes fun at his past legal troubles when a plot twist finds his character arrested and hauled off to jail. His final scene finds him in a jail cell, miserable while his fellow inmates watch Happy's victory on TV.

Does Carl Weathers appear in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Weathers, who died in 2024 and played Happy's mentor Chubbs in the original film, returns here in a very brief flashback to the original film. The appearance is notable because the scene features alternate footage shot for the original which wasn't included in the final cut.

Who does Steve Buscemi play in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Early on, frequent Sandler collaborator Buscemi has a blink and you'll miss it cameo as a bum urinating on a fire hydrant whilst giving Happy a welcoming wave as the golfer and his kids drive into their new (and rather decrepit) neighborhood. Buscemi reappears near the end for another brief shot, sharing a bottle of liquor with Jon Farley, brother of the late Chris Farley.

Who does Rob Schneider play in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Schneider reprises his "You can do it!" guy, whom he has played in five Sandler comedies. The controversial comedian appears in one of Happy's visions which he uses to center himself on the field. Clad in a Village People-style cowboy costume and riding a tricycle, Schneider delivers his infamous catchphrase directly to camera.

Does Julie Bowen return for Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Yes. Much was made about the return of original star Bowen, who played Happy's love interest and eventual wife, Virginia Venet. But Bowen's role is really nothing more than a cameo, and a pretty thankless one at that. She's present for the first three minutes of the movie…until Happy accidentally kills her with an errant golf swing, on Mother's Day no less. It's a bizarre and initially jarring twist, but it does allow the movie to explore darker and more interesting themes than the first. Bowen appears occasionally in Happy's imagined visions, but she notches less than five minutes of screentime total.

Which celebrities cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 ?

Margaret Qualley, Eric Andre, and Matt Herlihy

Substance Oscar-nominee Qualley, Andre, and Herlihy (the son of co-writer Tim Herlihy) show up in the second reel as a trio of posh golfers with whom Happy is paired on the course. As it's his first attempt to regain his mojo, the younger players show him up at every turn. Qualley and Andre's characters prove to be exceptional golfers, while Happy continually knocks his shots into his own crotch whilst swigging alcohol. The sequence culminates with an inebriated Happy falling asleep at the wheel of a golf cart, causing an explosion which nearly kills his compatriots.

Jackie Sandler

Sandler's wife plays the ballet teacher of Happy's daughter, Vienna (played by the couple's younger daughter, Sunny Sandler).

Ben Stiller

Stiller reprises his role as Hal L., the snide nursing home orderly who's now graduated from elder care to heading the Alcoholics Anonymous support group which Happy is legally obliged to attend after his golf cart catastrophe.

Sadie Sandler

Sandler's eldest daughter appears as a member of the AA support group who spars with Hal L. over his obscure, some might say tasteless, treatment methods.

Kim Whitley

The Black Dynamite star and veteran comedian is another member of the AA group. She immediately breaks the anonymity part of the contract by loudly screaming "Happy f---ing Gilmore!!" as soon as he enters his first meeting.

John Farley

Chris Farley's brother plays Harold, the hand-sanitizer swigging family friend of the Gilmores and Happy's de facto babysitter.

Sean Evans

The Hot Ones host plays himself during a quick scene in which the villainous character played by Benny Safdie (who co-directed Sandler in  Uncut Gems ) appears on the hot-sauce talk show.

Blake Clark

Though Clark didn't appear in the original Happy Gilmore , he did play Farmer Fran in The Waterboy (1999), another Sandler sports comedy from the same period. Here, he briefly reprises his role as Fran.

Jon Lovitz

Sandler's Saturday Night Live alum appears in one scene playing a milquetoast yuppie whom Happy shows up at the shooting range.

Kevin Nealon

Nealon reprises his role as clueless commentator Gary Potter for several brief scenes in an extended cameo.

Stephen A. Smith

The famed ESPN commentator amusingly lampoons his dramatic reputation in a quick cutaway to his fictional show-within-the-movie. "Happy Gilmore has reached an agreement of some kind with Satan, A.K.A. the Devil!" Smith screams while gesticulating wildly. Smith returns later on to tell viewers that, in his opinion, Happy "richly deserves" being sent to the electric chair.

Ken Jennings and Cam'ron

The Jeopardy host and rapper play television commentators who deliver some necessary exposition amidst a montage of Happy's return to glory.

Haley Joel Osment

The Sixth Sense Oscar-nominee shows up midway through the picture playing a pushy fellow golfer who does his best to unseat Happy from his recent victories.

Nick Swardson

Sandler's frequent collaborator appears in a throw-away flashback, which features Swardson, in a completely unsurprising turn, seeking medical attention after having a shoe shoved up his bum.

Robert Schmigel

The actor, former SNL writer, and director (of the amusing Sandler/Chris Rock Netflix vehicle The Week Of ) reprises his role from the original, playing the IRS agent who formerly tried to evict Happy's grandmother from her home. Here, he arrives at the one-hour mark to deliver some slightly better news.

Dan Patrick

Patrick plays a character named Pat Daniels (an anagram of Dan Patrick) who hosts another show-within-the-movie, Sports Hole with Pat Daniels .

Tim Herlihy and Nelly Corda

The film's co-screenwriter (and former SNL scribe) appears alongside the LPGA golfer during the final match.

Quinn Stiller

Ben Stiller's son appears as an unlucky caddie being strangulated by Will Zalatoris, the caddie whom Happy strangled in the first film and in the sequel wages an ill-fated revenge campaign.

Eminem

The rapper appears as the antagonistic son of the man whom Happy called a "jackass" in the original. He and Happy tussle until a crowd intervenes, throwing Eminem into a lake where he is attacked and dismembered by alligators. "I just don't give a f--k!" he screams in his final moments.

Post Malone

Malone shows up on a sports commentary show as a ludicrously costumed guest named DJ Oh-My-Gosh.
