Confetti's Cozy Corner: Fractured Blooms will keep you guessing

PAX East 2026 showcased hundreds of games to demo, and Serenity Forge's Fractured Blooms was a major standout.

Fractured Blooms was announced during Summer Game Fest 2025 , and it had many on the edge of their seat, waiting to see what came next. So having the opportunity to experience the demo at PAX East was a true joy. 

Fractured Blooms is described by its developer, Z, as a cozy-horror experience where you play as Angie and you work to restore your neglected house to its former glory. This is a typical goal we see in 'cozy-type' farming sims or life sim, but immediately when dropped into the demo their is an eerie feeling in the air.

The tasks are simple: take care of your garden, harvest tomatoes, cook the food, do laundry, go to sleep, and prepare to do it all again the next day. Managing resources, mainly in this demo, Angie's energy levels, to make sure all tasks can be completed. 

The beautiful environments invite players in for an experience that does appear to be calming and picturesque. Angie's home is filled with art and beautiful stained glass, letting players know that this house, at one point, was probably a safe and welcoming place until it wasn't. 

After the first loop, it becomes apparent that something is very wrong in this place as the environment becomes distorted, odd sounds and voices follow you, and there is something definitely watching you. As a seasoned horror player, I do not scare easily, but there were some parts in this demo where even I jumped or was taken aback.

Although the demo lasted about 25 minutes, I was brought in by the storytelling, graphics, and psychological mind games waiting with every task. Each twist and absurdity you experience in this game feels akin to thematic challenges experienced in games like Layers of Fear and Alice: Madness Returns . Is this timeloop Angie is experiencing her personal hell, or like a Wonderland of her subconscious that is trying to protect her? 

After my demo, I spoke with Z of Serenity Forge, who explained that this game was deeply personal to him based on life experiences that he turned into art.

Fractured Blooms is a bit far off from its release, but this game will be a hit once it does. Challenging the idea of what 'cozy' is, using farming sim and life sim game mechanics is my favorite niche to exist in. As described in an earlier article about the idea of 'cozy gaming' , the word 'cozy' is truly subjective and will differ from person to person.

A psychological horror, cute, farming sim with a rich story is my personal brand of cozy, but that may not be the same for everyone. 

Fractured Blooms is still in development, but the demo is available on Steam for folks to experience for themselves and come up with their own theories as to what is going on.
