Country music band ‘stepping away from touring’ after 20 years
Country music band Town Mountain will stop touring after 20 years.
The band made the announcement in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
"After two decades on the road and just over 1500 shows together, Town Mountain will be stepping away from touring following our fall run," the band wrote in the post. "This was not an easy decision, but it is one we made together with a lot of respect, reflection, and love for what we've built."
The band has more than a dozen shows scheduled until late October. Town Mountain's final show will be on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
"Whether it's your first or your fiftieth, we hope you'll come be part of this run," the post read. "These shows will be special. Who knows what the future holds, but thank you for being part of the ride. We are forever grateful."
An exact reason for Town Mountain's decision to step away from touring was not revealed. Fans left supportive comments on the band's Instagram post.
"Look at this comment section! You are loved! And 20 good years is about as much as anyone can hope for," one comment read. "Be proud, and I look forward to seeing what awaits you all."
"Selfishly sad to hear this because I love this band so much, yall gave me a chance way back when and I will never forget it," another comment read. "Some of my best memories was opening for you. Thanks for being kind fun killer musicians."
Town Mountain was formed by guitarist Robert Greer and banjoist Jesse Langlais in Asheville, North Carolina, the band's website states. The group's music incorporates elements of bluegrass, country and folk roots.
Since 2008, Town Mountain has released five studio albums, starting with their debut "Heroes & Heretics." The band's most recent album, "Lines in the Levee," was released in 2022. Some of Town Mountain's most popular songs include "Down Low," "I'm On Fire" and "Comeback Kid."
