Who is in the cast of The Phoenician Scheme ?

The cast includes new and longtime collaborators with Wes Anderson. Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Hope Davis make up the ensemble.

Del Toro’s Zsa-zsa Korda is one of the richest men in Europe, and Threapleton is his daughter and nun Sister Liesl. Cera plays tutor Bjorn Lund.

Who else is behind The Phoenician Scheme ?

Anderson directed  The Phoenician Scheme  from a screenplay he wrote from a story by Anderson and longtime collaborator Roman Coppola. Anderson and Coppola also co-wrote  Asteroid City  and  Moonrise Kingdom  together. The Phoenician Scheme  will be Anderson’s third collaboration with Focus Features.

What is The Phoenician Scheme about?

In the footage shown at CinemaCon, Korda, “international businessman, maverick in the fields of armament and aviation” according to the film’s trailer, names his daughter, one of his ten children, as heir, not disclosing why but notifying all that he’s embarking on “the most important project of my lifetime.” Desert scenes follow in the luxurious family villa with brisk dialogue, funny facial hair, gunshots and an outed assassin who pops a suicide pill as Liesl says last rites.

Is there a trailer for The Phoenician Scheme ?

Yes. In the trailer del Toro’s Korda is scene flying in a plane that later crashes. A narrator at the beginning of the clip reveals that rescue workers are searching for his remains after his “sixth recorded airplane crash.”

He hints that Liesl, the only daughter and “one nun” of his ten children who he names sole heir to his estate, “may come into it sooner rather than later.” She questions why, as it has been six months since their last meeting. He also has some adversity to “the most important project of [his] lifetime.”
