First Look at Magic: The Gathering’s Reality Fracture Set at MagicCon Las Vegas 2026
- Magic: The Gathering's upcoming Reality Fracture set focuses on Jace Beleren creating an alternate reality known as the Echoverse.
A first look at Magic: The Gathering’s Reality Fracture set was revealed during the MagicCon Las Vegas 2026 Preview Panel . Wizards of the Coast revealed that the set focuses on Jace Beleren creating an alternate reality known as the Echoverse. They also showcased a selection of cards from the upcoming set.
What Is the Echoverse?
The Echoverse is an alternate reality of Magic: The Gathering's Multiverse created by Jace Beleren. It is his "ideal" version of the Multiverse.
Reality Fracture features alternate versions of popular Magic: The Gathering characters. For example, Wizards of the Coast revealed an Echoverse version of Chandra. Her alternate version is depicted as a blue-aligned ice mage instead of the red-aligned fire mage fans are familiar with.
Each booster in Reality Fracture will contain a pair of cards representing the same character in different forms. One version reflects their current identity in the Magic multiverse, while the other presents their Echoverse counterpart in a different color alignment. This dual-card structure reinforces the set’s “What If?” concept by showcasing alternate interpretations of familiar characters.
Reality Fracture Headliner Card Revealed
Reality Fracture’s headliner card is Bloodline Recollector, featured in a serialized full-art treatment.
Bloodline Recollector uses the Prepare mechanic introduced in Secrets of Strixhaven. Its prepared spell, Ancestral Craving, is a black instant that lets a target player draw three cards and lose 3 life.
Ancestral Craving highlights that Reality Fracture's "What if?" concept extends beyond characters, applying to existing Magic cards as well. The spell is the Echoverse's black-aligned reinterpretation of Ancestral Recall. Unlike Planar Chaos, Reality Fracture's reinterpretations won't break the color pie, instead reshaping familiar effects within appropriate color identities.
Another example of this is Stingcaster Mage, a red Echoverse reinterpretation of Snapcaster Mage. The panel revealed Stingcaster Mage in a Borderless Shattered Mirror print and a Facet Foil Shattered Mirror print.
Hexhaven Revealed
A major setting in Magic: The Gathering's Reality Fracture is Hexhaven.
Hexhaven is the Echoverse’s twisted version of Strixhaven. Unlike Strixhaven’s colleges, which are based on enemy color pairs, Hexhaven’s schools are built around allied color pairs instead. The following are the Hexhaven schools and their Strixhaven counterparts:
-
Fatehold (White/Blue) - School of Future History. Counterpart of Lorehold.
-
Theorix (Blue/Black) - School of Esoteric Mathematics. Counterpart of Quandrix.
-
Stingerquill (Black/Red) - School of Painful Words. Counterpart of Silverquill.
-
Konstrari (Red/Green) - School of Constructive Arts. Counterpart of Prismari.
-
Vigorbloom (Green/White) - School of Invasive Healing. Counterpart of Witherbloom.
Reality Fracture Product Lineup Revealed
Wizards of the Coast also revealed the Reality Fracture product lineup.
Reality Fracture's product line up includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, and a Bundle. The set also includes a Commander Deck and a Secret Lair Bundle.
