All About Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik's Daughter, Khai Hadid Malik

Though Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik 's on-again, off-again romance ended in 2021, their partnership continues thanks to their daughter, Khai Hadid Malik . It all started in 2015, after Hadid split from Joe Jonas and Malik broke off his engagement to Perrie Edwards. Five years of ups and downs later, the pair welcomed their baby mid-pandemic.

"She has already given me so much," Hadid told The Sunday Times three years later. "I always wanted to be a mom, but I was never obsessive about it or [thought that] I was put on this Earth to be a mom. I've always been quite organized, so having Khai at the time that I did was a blessing. I'm so glad to be a young mum."

Khai was born on September 19, 2020.

Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hadid opted for a home birth. The model later revealed that Zayn actually caught his daughter after she arrived in an inflatable tub set up in Hadid's bedroom.

"There definitely was a point where I was like, 'I wonder what it would be like with an epidural, how it would be different,'" Hadid told Vogue . "My midwife looked at me and was like, 'You're doing it. No one can help you. You're past the point of the epidural anyway, so you'd be pushing exactly the same way in a hospital bed.'"

Three days later, the couple announced the baby's arrival on Instagram : "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she's already changed our world. So in love🥺💕," Hadid wrote.

She's spending her childhood in Pennsylvania.

Following in the footsteps of her horse girl auntie Bella Hadid , Khai is growing up on a farm in rural Pennsylvania. Gigi shares the farm with her sister, and told Vogue that it's the place she feels "happiest."

"I think she'll definitely be raised here," she said . "The greenery and the farm-y lifestyle are similar to what made me feel really centered as a kid, and I think that's really important to Zayn and me."

She doesn't show her face on social media.

Hadid and Malik have been adamant about protecting their daughter's privacy , with the model going so far as to pen an open letter to paparazzi in 2021: "Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen," she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Hadid continued, "It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera."

She has inspired both of her parents to lead by example.

Since Khai's arrival in 2020, Malik told Alex Cooper that his main goal is "trying to be a good example for her." He continued , "That's why I'm even doing this interview, you know? I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this. And I want her to be able to look at me and be like, 'My dad's doing this.'"

Hadid, for her part, explained that her and daughter "grow together."

"You wake up and do your best and you realize it is enough, and there's a beauty in not necessarily knowing exactly how that's going to go," she told Vogue . "I think that's a huge lesson that I needed. And probably one of the reasons that Khai came to me."
