Grammy-nominated folk rock band to headline The Big E Arena this fall

The Avett Brothers, a folk rock band, have joined the headliner music lineup at The Big E Arena this fall.

The North Carolinian band and four-time Grammy Award nominees will perform at 7:30 on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the fairgrounds in West Springfield.

The Avett Brothers join Foreigner and ZZ Top as fellow headliners on The Big E's biggest stage. Those bands will perform on Sunday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 28, respectively.

The Avett Brothers first gained mainstream success with their 2009 major label debut album "I and Love and You," with their 2012 album "The Carpenter" and 2013 album "Magpie and the Dandelion" each rising to the top 5 on the Billboard 200, according to The Big E.

The band was the center of the 2017 documentary "May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers," co-directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio, The Big E added.

In 2019, the band released its 10th studio album "Closer Than Together," and in 2024, the band released its self-titled album "The Avett Brothers," The Big E noted.

Tickets for the concert go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, exclusively on The Big E's website .

Concert tickets include admission to The Big E when bought before the performance date.

The Big E returns for its 17-day run starting Friday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 28.

The Big E is the largest fair on the East Coast, and last year marked a record-breaking annual attendance of 1.7 million fairgoers.
