  • Happy Days cast members Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Don Most, and Anson Williams reunite on stage and share their favorite episodes from the series.

Some shows fade into memory, while others, like Happy Days , never seem to leave us. Recently, Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham), Henry Winkler ( Fonzie ), Don Most (Ralph Malph) and Anson Williams (Potsie Webber) reunited on stage at a convention, and during the event they were asked what turned out to be a deceptively easy question: "Do you have a favorite episode?" Their response was not just a greatest episodes list, but also an affectionate love letter to their time together on the series.

For his part, Henry Winkler took a step back from specifics, instead reflecting on the experience as a whole. “I loved every one of them,” he said. “I was so happy to be on this show that put out such good feelings into the world. I got to be with them—each of these guys—every day, five days a week, for 10 and a half years. I don't have a favorite. I really don't. I loved every one of them.”

Don Most actually did have a specific choice—and it marked a major moment for his character. “It was the first episode where the storyline really revolved around Ralph,” he recalled. Though he couldn’t remember the title during the conversation, he was describing the second episode of Season 2, "The Motorcycle," which first aired on September 16, 1975. In that episode, Ralph accidentally demolishes Fonzie’s beloved motorcycle, panics and decides to skip town before facing the consequences.

“There’s this scene where I walk into Arnold’s with a suitcase and Richie asks, ‘Where are you going, Ralph?’ I say, ‘West.’ I was getting the hell out of Dodge,” Most recalled. “I got really into preparing for that one. I don’t think I ever told you guys this, but I would go out at night and sneak around alleyways just to get into the mindset of what it felt like to be really scared. I was just so committed to making that moment real.”

Tunisian businessmen

Anson Williams shared that same episode as his favorite—though he had a few close runners-up. “Every time I saw that show, I just cracked up,” he said. “I was so entertained. That was my favorite.” Among his other picks: "Fonzie's Hero" (Episode 6 of Season 4), in which Potsie saves Fonzie’s life and requests a reward that has the Fonz kind of wishing he hadn't. Then there's "They Call It Potsie Love (Episode 13 of Season 3), which let him show off his singing chops in a storyline about Potsie singing to Joanie and she develops a crush on him.

Williams also made a passing reference to another fan-favorite: "Three on a Porch" (Episode 11 of Season 3), which aired November 18, 1975. In it, Richie, Ralph and Potsie rent a lakeside cabin and pretend to be wealthy Tunisian businessmen—complete with outrageous outfits—in an effort to impress a group of college girls. “The one where we pretended to be Tunisian camel jockeys…” he laughed, clearly still tickled by the memory.

Too many choices!

Ron Howard, who had departed the series following Season 7 to pursue what turned out to be an extremely successful directing career, took a broader perspective. “There was a whole range of episodes I really liked,” he said. “A lot of 'em were funny and I really enjoyed them—especially once we started having a live audience. Feeling the laughs, being able to control the rhythm of that—it was great.”

Asked for specifics, Howard didn’t offer a particular title, but fans often point to emotionally rich episodes like "Richie Almost Dies" (Season 5, Episode 18) or comedic classics like "Fonzie the Superstar" (Season 3, Episode 19) as examples of particularly strong shows.

If nothing else, the cast’s responses underscore what longtime fans already knew: Happy Days wasn’t just a show—this was a cast that bonded like a family. And decades later, the joy of those happy days remains as fresh in their minds as the memories they gave the rest of us.
