Kate Middleton Has a New Wax Figure—and It Made Me Do a Double Take
- Kate Middleton's new wax figure at Madame Tussauds London pays tribute to Princess Diana by featuring a replica of the iconic Lover’s Knot Tiara she wore on several occasions in the 1980s.
Kate Middleton is the subject of a fresh wax figure at Madame Tussauds London , which features a stunningly realistic design and a touching tribute to Princess Diana .
The Princess of Wales' updated figure was unveiled on Wednesday, and is modeled after the outfit she wore to the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace in December 2023 . According to a press release obtained by People , the figure was revamped in celebration of Middleton and Prince William's 14th wedding anniversary, and is dressed in a gown similar to Middleton's pristine pink Jenny Packham number.
Complementing the gown are silver pumps in the style of Gianvito Rossi 'Rania 105,' which Middleton is a big fan of. The figure is also wearing a Royal Victorian Order blue sash, and replica Greville Diamond Chandelier earrings. While the dress and pumps are certainly stunning, I did a double take when I saw the signature Lover's Knot Tiara on the figure, which was a piece seen on Princess Diana on a few occasions in the 1980s, and worn by Middleton on the night of the Diplomatic Reception.
Diana first received the tiara from Queen Elizabeth II in 1981, wearing it to events such as the state opening of Parliament in November of that year, and on a trip to Washington with Prince Charles in 1985. As per the Court Jeweller , the iconic headpiece was originally commissioned from the jeweler Garrard by Queen Mary in either 1913 or 1914, making it over 100 years old.

Middleton frequently pays tribute to her late mother-in-law. In fact, earlier this month she was spotted wearing the historic Collingwood pearl drop earrings for her appearance at Westminster Abbey for a service celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The earrings are a family heirloom Diana was seen wearing on multiple occasions during the course of her lifetime, including the legendary 1994 Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery where she wore her iconic black "revenge" dress.
Middleton first made her Madame Tussauds debut in April 2012, approximately one year after her marriage to Prince William.
