"Everyone knows I'm not one to sit on my hands," Gray said. "I'll be making sure all of the stars are aligned. Let's rock!"

The rest of The Marshall Tucker Band will continue on the "2025 All Our Friends Tour" as scheduled. The tour includes a show at Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis on Friday, Aug. 8. Fans can shop for tickets using reliable third-party ticket sellers like StubHub , VividSeats and SeatGeek .

Gray is the only original and active member of The Marshall Tucker Band. Formed in 1972, the band is credited with helping to establish the Southern rock genre with its fusion of country, rock and jazz.

The group released its self-titled debut album in 1973 and gained recognition from touring with the Allman Brothers Band. The Marshall Tucker Band further gained success throughout the rest of the '70s with most of their albums going gold. The band's peak came with the platinum-certified 1977 album "Carolina Dreams" and its top 15 single "Heard It in a Love Song."
