'Little House on the Prairie' Star's Son Sends a Blunt Message About Reboot Series

  • Christopher Landon, son of Little House on the Prairie star Michael Landon, expressed support for the Netflix reboot of the beloved Western historical drama, acknowledging the challenge of living up to his father's portrayal of Charles Ingalls.

Little House on the Prairie star Michael Landon 's son, Christopher Landon, recently sent a blunt message about the upcoming reboot series.

Earlier this month, Christopher, 49, weighed in on the Netflix revival of the beloved Western historical drama during an interview with The Minnesota Star Tribune .

Michael famously portrayed Laura Ingalls Wilder's father, Charles Ingalls, in Little House on the Prairie before his death at 54 in 1991 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. At the time of the actor's death, Christopher was just a teenager.

"I'm not one of those people who is slavishly protective of one version of something. But it's a high bar," Christopher declared of the reboot series. "My dad did it really, really well. These things are lightning in a bottle. It's hard to recapture, but I'm rooting for them."

Melissa Gilbert , 60—who portrayed Laura in the original show—also recently weighed in on the Little House on the Prairie revival after Megyn Kelly criticized the move.

In January, Kelly wrote via X , "@Netflix if you wokeify Little House on the Prairie I will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project." 

In response, Gilbert took to Threads to send a direct message.

"Apparently Megyn tweeted (I'm not on that platform) asking that Netflix not 'woke-ify' their Little House remake," she wrote. "Ummm...watch the original again TV doesn't get too much more 'woke' than we did."

Gilbert continued: "We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other 'woke' topic you can think of. Thank you very much."
