Meet the Real-Life Loves of the “Madea's Destination Wedding” Cast (Including the Couple with a Baby on the Way!)

Madea's Destination Wedding — the next installment of Tyler Perry 's Madea film franchise — follows Madea as she witnesses true love in the tropics.

The film centers around Madea and her family as they attend her grandniece Tiffany's ( Diamond White ) nuptials in the Bahamas.

In the film, the family is witnessing a newer romance, but in real life, many of the cast members have been happily married for several years. Cassi Davis — who plays Aunt Bam — wed her husband Kerry Patton in 2017, while Tamela and David Mann — who play Cora and Mr. Brown — tied the knot over 30 years ago.

Tamela and David have worked together throughout their careers, appearing in several of Perry's films and TV shows. David previously told Monarch how the pair maintain a strong marriage amid their working relationship.

"We both lean on each other a lot. When I am weak, Tamela is strong; and when she is weak, I am strong," he said. "It's really worked for us; being together and working together, eating together, sleeping together. And we've been doing TV together for so long, I can't imagine doing this without Tamela at my side."

Tyler Perry

Perry portrays three characters in Madea's Destination Wedding : Madea, Joe and Brian. In addition to starring in the film, he's also the writer and director of the project.

The creator tends to keep his relationships private, but previously dated model and activist Gelila Bekele from 2007 to 2020. The pair share one child together, son Aman Tyler Perry , whom they welcomed on Nov. 30, 2014.

Speaking with AARP The Magazine in August 2022, Perry opened up about why he keeps his personal relationships out of the spotlight .

"Because these people are not famous. My son's not famous," he said. "I want him to have as normal a life as he can."

Perry added, "I want him to know what it's like to have his own name and his own life and not have the pressure of trying to live up to whatever or whoever your father was."

Diamond White

White, who plays Brian's daughter Tiffany, is not known to be romantically involved with anyone. However, she has shared how grateful she is to Perry for originally casting her as his daughter in BOO! A Madea Halloween back in 2016.

"I know that he does take chances on newcomers like myself. I had never done a feature film before and he decided to take a chance on me and I was like the smallest fish in the cast," she told The Mary Sue in January 2017. "I'm still growing my career and I'm still learning a lot and the fact that he took a chance on me out of all of the people he read to play his daughter was amazing and I'm so grateful."

Xavier Smalls and Vanessa Martinez

Xavier Smalls, who portrays Tiffany's fiancé Zavier, has been married to his wife Vanessa Martinez since 2024.

The pair got engaged in August 2023, with Smalls sharing a carousel of photos from the proposal.

"I proposed to the woman of my dreams. Thank you God ❤️💍," he captioned the post. "I love you forever Vanessa, can't wait to see what God has in store for our relationship and future family."

The couple wed a year later on Dec. 7, 2024, per Instagram . In March, Smalls and Martinez announced that they are expecting their first child together.

Cassi Davis and Kerry Patton

Davis has been married to Patton since 2017.

Davis told Ray Cornelius on his radio show Upfront in January 2017 that she and Patton were high school sweethearts who reconnected later in life.

"We met in the third grade, and of course, you grow up and you go your separate ways, and we were apart for about twenty years, and divinely God brought us back together in 2007," she said. "You know, you think you're committed and you say you're committed, but life just has to live itself, and then afterwards, we're good. And so now, we're married."

Tamela Mann and David Mann

Tamela and David have starred in several of Perry's projects, including Meet the Browns , Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living .

The pair have been married since April 1988, celebrating their 37th wedding anniversary in 2025. David commemorated the milestone by sharing a sweet tribute to his wife on their joint Instagram account.

"Happy 37th Wedding Anniversary to My Amazing Wife Tamela♥️," he wrote in the caption. "I hope that over these 37 years, I've helped you live out some of your dreams. They share two children together. David also has two daughters from other relationships.

Jermaine Harris

Jermaine Harris, who plays Brian's son BJ, hasn't spoken up about any relationships.

However, he has expressed his gratitude to Perry for starring in Madea's Destination Wedding , telling The Press in June 2025 that he grew up watching the younger version of his character in earlier Madea films.

"It was a full circle moment for sure," he said. "I remember the character I read for ... seeing that character when I was younger ... but now I'm playing the older version of him, like, that's really cool."

Taja V. Simpson and Ryan Easter

Taja V. Simpson, who portrays Tiffany's mom Debrah, married her husband Ryan Easter in July 2024 at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

The pair first met through a mutual friend during the COVID-19 pandemic. They dated long-distance for two months before meeting in person.

"Ryan and I were both very intentional and started dating with purpose before we met," Simpson told MunaLuchi Bride in August 2024. "When we met one another, it was like, this is it. We put intention into every single thing, including our love."

Simpson and Easter also share a son together, whom they welcomed in 2023, according to a post on her Instagram account.
