NBC Reveals First Coach for Season 28 of 'The Voice'

  • Snoop Dogg has signed a lucrative deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, which includes him returning as a coach for Season 28 of The Voice.

In sharing the news today that Snoop Dogghas made  a lucrative deal with NBCUniversal  Entertainment & Studios, Variety also revealed that there would be a Season 28 of The Voice and that Snoop would be a coach.

Snoop was previously a coach on the show's 26th season last fall, alongside Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefaniand first-time coach Michael Bublé, who won.

"Audiences around the world love Snoop and connect with his unparalleled showmanship and artistry," NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios Chairman Donna Langleysaid in a statement. "Those of us lucky enough to be in his orbit also know his incredible business acumen, endlessly creative spirit and the unapologetic authenticity that he brings to every project. There's only one Snoop, and we're so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners."

Snoop Dogg has already been in business with NBCU, including the aforementioned season of The Voice, but also appearing as part of NBC and Peacock's coverage of the  2024 Olympic Games  in Paris.

In addition to returning to The Voice,  Snoop's deal includes film, television, sports entertainment and streaming, which encompasses the Death Row Records biopic about his life, from filmmaker Allen Hughes. First announced in 2022 following Snoop's acquisition of Death Row Records, it will be the first film to come out of the new Death Row Pictures.

Snoop said in a statement, "Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home.  The Dogg has officially moved into the neighborhood, ya dig?"
