Ozzy Osbourne’s Funeral Procession Made a Poignant Detour Past His Childhood Home

Ozzy Osbourne's funeral procession made a touching stop before culminating at the Black Sabbath Bridge on Birmingham's main street on July 30. The late rock legend's cortege made a detour down Lodge Road, where Osbourne lived as a child with his parents and five siblings.
According to The Independent , two police motorcycles led Osbourne's hearse and the family's funeral cars down the side street past the home at 14 Lodge Road en route to downtown Birmingham, where thousands of fans waited to pay tribute to the beloved Black Sabbath singer.
The home's current owner, Mohabbat Ali Zaman, told the outlet that his parents purchased the two-bedroom property from the Osbournes in 1972 after previously living in the house next door.

Speaking with ITV News , Zaman said, "This is our family house, it used to be Ozzy Osbourne's childhood home, and I was young when my father bought the house. …My parents had no idea when they bought it in 1972 what Ozzy and Black Sabbath would become."
"The house is special because it has our childhood memories in and someone else's childhood memories. We feel like we are looking after his legacy," he added.
Zaman also noted that the words "John"—Ozzy's birth name—and "Iron Void" are still carved in the bricks at the front of the home, which has become a tourist attraction.
In 1995, Osbourne returned to his childhood home with BBC Midlands Today reporter Gary Hudson. In a video posted by BBC , Osbourne noted that he carved "Iron Void" into the brick as he was "thinking of band names."
Osbourne also talked about his childhood home in a 2018 interview with Huffington Post . "My address was 14 Lodge Road, Aston, Birmingham, which was a little place - it's still there!" he said at the time. "I've been back to that house a few times over the years and I can't believe there were eight of us living in a two-and-a-half bedroom house. It is tiny! I have wardrobes bigger in my house."
