The entire carpet stopped and stared when Diana Ross made her triumphant return to the Met Gala after 22 years.

The 2025 Met Gala , which celebrated Black dandyism , was held on Monday night, May 5.

The "Endless Love" singer sported a sweeping white gown with an 18-foot train that was encrusted with crystals and beads.

The train was embroidered with the names of Ross' five children — Rhonda, Tracee, Chudney, Ross and Evan — and eight grandchildren — Raif, Callaway, Everlee, Leif, Indigo, Jagger, Bronx and Ziggy.

The dress was collaborative effort between Ross, her son Evan and Nigerian designer, Ugo Mozie .

"Together, they wanted to spotlight a tailored design that celebrated her own family legacy — by spanning the generations of the Ross name, and doing so through refined style," British Vogue wrote of Ross' dress. "Ross shut down the red carpet this evening with a look that was equal parts glamorous and personal."

Those watching the Met Gala at home were equally blown away by Ross' return and incredible style.

"This woman is stunning," one X user wrote . "Glamour and class [at] 81 years old."

"Diana Ross was the best of the night," another X user wrote . "I don't care about anyone else."

Harper's Bazaar felt the same way about Ross' dress. The outlet put the "I'm Coming Out" singer at the top of its list of "The 13 Best-Dressed Stars at the 2025 Met Gala."

"Diana Ross has not attended a Met Gala since 2003, and her long-awaited return did not disappoint — this look is quintessentially her," Harper's Bazaar wrote. "The heavily-embellished sequined dress with the exaggerated matching train felt like one of her stage looks, but turbo charged."

And it wasn't just online fans and fashion outlets who applauded Ross' look. Superstar Zendaya, who was walking the carpet at the same time as Ross, stopped to admire the "Baby Love" singer's attire.

The 28-year-old was seen shouting, "She's the reference," in regards to her look, which was seemingly inspired by Ross' signature white outfit in the 1975 film "Mahogany."

Ross has attended the Met Gala five times, with her first being in 1978 alongside legendary designer Halston. The music icon wore a flowy red Gucci gown at her last show in 2003.

British Vogue said Ross' most recent design "proved to be one of her most glam — not to mention incredibly sweet and memorable."
