‘Squid Game’ Ends Its Three-Season Run With Surprise Oscar Winner Cameo

Netflix’s hit Korean series Squid Game wrapped up its three-season run with an Oscar winner’s surprise cameo.

In the final scene of Season 3, Front Man (In ho), played by Lee Byung-hun, is seen stopped at a light in downtown Los Angeles where he sees a woman playing ddakji with a desperate man in an alleyway. The L.A.-based recruiter turns out to be two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett who looks up and nods to Front Man as he drives away. Blanchett’s attention then returns to her recruit, who insists on going another round. “As you wish,” she smirks.

As Deadline previously exclusively reported , according to sources, a new English-language Squid Game  series is being developed by David Fincher at the streamer, but there has been no official confirmation by Netflix.

Season 3 continues to chronicle the physical and philosophical struggle between Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who’s determined to take down the dehumanizing games once and for all, and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who desperately wants to break Gi-hun’s faith in humanity.

Squid Game  made Emmy history with first-ever wins for a non-English language show and Season 2 was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama. Season 2 currently ranks No. 2 with 192.6 million views just behind Season 1 at 265.2 million, according to the streamer.
