Williamson County-based Studio Tenn plans 16th season kickoff amid major staff departure
The Turner Theater inside The Factory at Franklin will soon raise the house lights in preparation for Studio Tenn's 16th season as other organizational changes take effect after a monumental 15th year.
The company plans to kick off 2025-2026 with William McNulty's adaptation of "Dracula" Oct. 9. Based on the Bram Stoker novel, the show focuses on the story of Count Dracula's arrival in England and the trail of terror he leaves in his wake.
"We can't wait to introduce audiences to this captivating and haunted retelling, brought to life by a cast full of Tennessee talent," said Patrick Cassidy, Studio Tenn's Artistic Director. "Studio Tenn takes pride in finding the best actors for every show and character no matter who they are or where they're from. But, it becomes extra special when all the actors have strong ties to Middle Tennessee."
Portraying the show's lead in his Studio Tenn debut is Franklin native Jay Sullivan as Count Dracula. Morgan-Ellene Davis, who previously graced the stage as Elizabeth in "Frankenstein," and Savannah Stein, who played Audrey in the musical "Little Shop of Horrors," are set to return.
Rounding out the cast is Tennessee native and Lipscomb University graduate Jonah M. Jackson. He was seen on the Turner Theater stage last season in "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Crimes of the Heart."
In addition to the new members joining the Studio Tenn cast, a prominent company member has announced his departure. After eight years as managing director, Todd Morgan is stepping down.
"Serving Studio Tenn has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional life, and it is not easy to step away," he said. "I believe this is the right moment for me, personally, and the right moment for the company to build on its current momentum."
During his tenure, Morgan has guided the organization through some of its most pivotal moments, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Todd's passion for theatre has touched every corner of Studio Tenn," said Studio Tenn Board Chair Tony McAlister. "Through his leadership, he has helped the company fulfill its mission of bringing professional theatre to the Franklin community and introducing new audiences to the magic of live performance. We look forward to building on the strong foundation he has created."
Studio Tenn's 16th season schedule includes "White Christmas," "Deathtrap," "Boeing Boeing" and "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Tickets for "Dracula" start at $55 and are available at studiotenn.org , the Turner Theater box office in The Factory or by calling (615) 541-8200. Discounted tickets are available for active military, veterans, students and educators who present their respective IDs at the box office.
