  • New York Fashion Week will no longer be held at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park due to the NYC Parks Department's decision not to renew its lease with IMG Fashion.

New York Fashion Week is getting the boot from Lincoln Center, its home for the last four years.

On Friday the NYC Parks Department agreed to not renew its lease with fashion week producer IMG Fashion for use of Damrosch Park located near Lincoln Center during fashion week. In the settlement ordered by Supreme Court Justice Margaret Chan, IMG Fashion Week will have to vacate the premises and remove all tents and other Fashion Week equipment from the park.

Green spaces advocates said the city and Lincoln Center violated state public trust doctrine by limiting public access to Damrosch Park during the bi-annual event, which advocate groups also claimed led to the removal of greenery from the park.

New York Fashion Week 's current agreement with Lincoln Center ends in February after the Fall '15 shows. A new location has no been named.

According to AM New York, Ian Fried, spokesman for New York City's Economic Department Corporation, said, "We are actively engaged with IMG to determine a new location to host Fashion Week, which is key to the City's status as the fashion capital of the world, generating nearly $900 million in economic impact every year."
