BBC One and Hulu’s ‘Hard Sun’ Trailer Shows Jim Sturgess & Agyness Deyn As Detectives In Pre-Apocalyptic London

BBC One and Hulu have released the first trailer for the six-part "pre-apocalyptic" crime drama Hard Sun starring Agyness Deyn and Jim Sturgess.
Created by Neil Cross, the show follows Detective Inspector Elaine Renko and Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Hicks as they navigate a world on the brink of destruction, premiering in the UK on January 6, 2018, and in the US on March 7.
The series, set in contemporary London, explores the complex dynamic between the two lead characters who must overcome their differences and work together to survive until the end of the world.

BBC One and Hulu have released the first trailer for six-part "pre-apocalyptic" crime drama Hard Sun . The show, which stars Agyness Deyn as Detective Inspector Elaine Renko and Jim Sturgess Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Hicks, who seek to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction.

The thriller, created by Luther creator Neil Cross and produced by Euston Films, will launch first on the British pubcaster on January 6 2018 before debuting on the US streaming service on March 7.

Cross, who recently struck a first-look deal with FremantleMedia , told Deadline that he set out to make a show unlike other cop dramas. "We had a blast making it. We filmed from January to end of May. Of course, making TV is always difficult but there's no reason on God's Earth why doing what we do shouldn't be fun. In some ways it's been a relatively simple process in that I wrote all the episodes but, and I'm trying to find a non-clichéd way of saying creative relationship, there isn't one. It's been very relaxed and fruitful," he added.

Set in contemporary London, Hicks is a family man and a great, committed officer. He's also profoundly corrupt. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible officer. Thus, the two cops stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other – and for good reason. But they must somehow learn to work together if they're going to survive until the end of the world.

Written by BAFTA and Emmy-nominated Cross, Hard Sun is directed by Brian Kirk ( Game of Thrones ) with Hugh Warren ( Thirteen ) producing. The executive producers are Kate Harwood for Euston Films and Elizabeth Kilgarriff for BBC One.
