If you’re a Bella Ramsey fan — and in the blasted hellscape of 2023, who among us isn’t — get ready to stan in a whole new way.

Ramsey is set to star in the period drama  Monstrous Beauty , as  Deadline confirmed on Wednesday. The film will place Ramsey in the 17th-century court of England’s King Charles II, playing Barbara Field, a young playwright whose body is entirely covered in hair.

Written and directed by  Atonement star Romola Garai, the film will combine fictional elements (like Barbara herself) with real historical figures including Nell Gwyn, a preeminent actor in Charles’ court and the King’s mistress, who will be played by Ruth Negga. Dominic West, fresh off  The Crown , will continue playing royals named Charles, while  Killing Eve’s Fiona Shaw is set to portray Aphra Ben, the first recorded female playwright. No details on the film’s release schedule have been revealed, but an advance poster for the project shows Ramsey seated in an opulent golden frame with a shawl draped over their head.

According to the official synopsis,  Monstrous Beauty follows Barbara as she struggles out of poverty to obtain a rare formal education and secures an invitation to reside at the King’s court as a “Natural Wonder” due to her appearance. “Fuelled by the desire to be defined for who she is rather than how she looks,” Barbara apprentices under Gwyn and enlists Ben’s help as well to prepare a script that will illustrate the foolishness of misogyny and patriarchy.

“I am beyond thrilled to be bringing this script, that I love so much and that has lived within me for so many years, to the screen,” Garai told  Deadline. “Barbara’s deep need to express herself and to be seen and appreciated by others… is all of ours; I am over the moon and truly humbled to be making this film with such an incredible roster of talent.”

For those of you in  Ramsey’s Gay Army who are bummed because this won’t give us more tender moments between them and Pedro Pascal, don’t fret too much,  The Last of Us will be back on HBO, just  not for a hot minute . In the meantime, Ramsey is keeping  very busy , complementing dramatic roles like this one with voice acting in the forthcoming  Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget . We love a nonbinary monarch with range!
