The questionable wax figure that was meant to beBeyoncé was temporarily removed from the floor at Madame Tussauds in midtown New York City following a wave of criticism on social media, according to the  New York Times .

The light-skinned, blonde figure with little resemblance to the singer was gone as of Thursday afternoon (July 20), though representatives declined to comment on the removal. One staff member did confirm it was "off the floor until further notice."

On Friday, the New York Daily News  reported it was back on display — and that Madame Tussauds said it has "adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure."

Later in the day, TMZ posted a video of the updated wax figure (seen below), which appears to have a tanner complexion with a fuller hairstyle, in comparison to the original.

Billboard has reached out to a rep for comment.

"Our talented team of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately color match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted," Madame Tussauds New York had previously said in an emailed statement to the New York Times , in regards to the Beyoncé figure. "Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures, which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage."
