There is some uncertainty regarding the status of the Angel Manuel Soto-directed movie. The project was announced in 2018, way beforeJames Gunnand Peter Safran took over the future of the DC heroes. While the Gunn-led era will kick off withSuperman: Legacy, the director has stated on previous occasions that Blue Beetle can be considered the first DCU character. Director Soto also seems to be pretty confident Jaime Reyes will have his place in the new DC era. Much will depend on the movie's success at the box office and how well fans will respond to Blue Beetle.
