Ready to revisit the fictional town of Three Rivers, Pa.?

On Aug. 25, 1994, audiences met the introspective 15-year-old Angela Chase ( Claire Danes ), her bad boy crush Jordan Catalano ( Jared Leto ) and the rest of the crew at Liberty High. Created by Winnie Holzman (the screenwriter for both Wicked films , having also written the book for the stage musical), My So-Called Life became an unofficial diary for Xennial teens — a.k.a. Generation Catalano — capturing the angst of adolescence while unafraid to address issues like homophobia, drug use, homelessness and more.

Though the series snagged four Emmy nominations and earned Danes a Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a television series — drama, the show was canceled after 19 episodes, leaving fans with an unresolved cliffhanger. However, while the now-cult favorite didn't get a proper send-off, its stars certainly did: Danes and Leto eventually rose to A-list status , A.J. Langer married into royalty and other castmates forged successful paths of their own.

As we mark the 30th anniversary of this one-season wonder, let's check in on what the My So-Called Life cast has been up to in the years since.

Claire Danes as Angela Chase

Decades after Claire Danes' role as Angela Chase on My So-Called Life , the actress became most recognizable to TV fans as Homeland 's Carrie Mathison, but she never forgot her small-screen start as the angst-ridden teen.

"It was a seminal experience for me, both professionally and personally ... I was the same age as the character, and there was an incredible symmetry between us — unlike Carrie Mathison, who in no way resembles me," the star told Interview magazine in November 2013 .

Since My So-Called Life , Danes has won multiple Emmys for roles in Temple Grandin and Homeland and starred in films including Romeo + Juliet (1996) and The Family Stone (2005). The actress also had parts in the miniseries The Essex Serpent (2022), Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022) and Full Circle (2023).

In 2009, Danes married actor Hugh Dancy and had two sons, Rowan and Cyrus. In July 2023, they welcomed a daughter , whose name is yet to be revealed.

Years after starring as Claire Danes' rebellious on-screen BFF Rayanne Graff, A.J. Langer is now taking on a different role: Countess! In 2004, she married Charles Courtenay , who is the 19th Earl of Devon, and the couple raised their children — Joscelyn and Jack — in Courtenay's ancestral home of Powderham Castle in the English countryside.

In October 2023, Courtenay filed for divorce from Langer after 19 years of marriage, but four months later, he asked the court to dismiss his request for disunion ( per The Blast ).

Langer joined her former My So-Called Life castmates for a virtual reunion in 2020.

In his My So-Called Life role as Rickie Vasquez, Wilson Cruz made history by being the first out gay actor to portray an out gay teen. He now credits the show for helping his father come to terms with Cruz's sexuality.

"It was through his watching of the series that he was able to understand what my life was really like ," the actor told PEOPLE in February 2020. "Growing up, I never thought he would ever accept my sexuality, but because of a TV show, he was able to change his mind."

Jared Leto made audiences swoon as pensive heartthrob Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life . Despite fans' obsession with the brooding bad boy he played, the actor told Rolling Stone in July 2016 that starring on the show didn't leave as much of an impact on him.

After the show's conclusion, Irwin has earned many one-off credits in series like 7th Heaven, Criminal Minds and How to Get Away with Murder . Most recently, Irwin starred on Apple TV+'s The Morning Show .

While unmarried in real life, Irwin has reflected fondly on his on-screen partnership with his fictional wife, Patty, played by Bess Armstrong. "There were several times when we would finish the scene and then Bess and I would just sit there in bed and talk for another hour or two, and just hang out on the set. I loved working with her," Irwin recalled to Elle magazine.

Bess Armstrong took on the role of a well-meaning helicopter mom, Patty Chase, on My So-Called Life before graduating to acting stints on House of Lies and Mad Men . Armstrong has also been featured on Grey's Anatomy and Boston Legal.

While viewers strongly sympathized with Angela, the show's season finale procured a legion of Mrs. Chase supporters. Armstrong opened up about the defining moment in a 2014 interview with Vanity Fair , and how the twist would have influenced a second season.

"[Winnie Holzman] had told me that, because Graham was beginning that affair, I know I was going to go into a major depression," Armstrong recounted. And Angela was going to be forced to become more of the adult."

She's been married to actor John Fielder since 1986. Together, they have three children.
