In addition to his dashing good looks and impeccable pedigree, the only son of John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy was also a fashion icon — at least according to TikTok, where his effortless '90s style is inspiring men to show off their own modern versions of his look.

It's all thanks to the success of Ryan Murphy 's Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette , a new scripted series on FX based on the lives of JFK Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy . The couple died tragically in a plane crash in 1999. The series has turned into a cultural phenomenon, with watchers more obsessed than ever with the couple's personal and professional lives.

But what exactly is the JFK Jr. look? The Kennedy scion was often photographed in the loose-fitting suits that were popular in the '90s. On casual days, he went for a preppy yet quirky look, wearing vests, newsboy hats, backwards caps and lots of layers.

But perhaps his most memorable accessory was his bike. The George magazine founder could be seen rolling up his dress pants and riding around Manhattan on a bicycle, without a hair out of place.

TikTok user Michael Jacob shared his take on Kennedy's look, pairing blue jeans with button-downs, loose-fitting ties, and colorful caps.

In another video , TikTok user Meg McLaughlin styles her husband in the likeness of JFK Jr., putting him in chinos, a white button-down covered by a sweater, a tan barn coat, and signature accessories like a backwards cap and dark sunglasses.

The FX series has also intensified interest in Carolyn. PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive 's equally stylish wife worked as a fashion publicist at Calvin Klein . The show depicts Carolyn's glamorous work life , where she worked alongside Calvin Klein himself at his Manhattan headquarters.

In addition to their style, social media users are even going as far as attempting to recreate the couple's vacations. A " Kennedy Summer " trend is also picking up on TikTok, where users emulate the upper-class New England lifestyle associated with the Kennedy family.

Though it's been a hit with the public at large, the series has received an icy reception from some, including JFK Jr.'s nephew Jack Schlossberg, who called the show "grotesque."

"If you want to know someone who's never met anyone in my family, knows nothing about us, talk to Ryan Murphy," Schlossberg said. "The guy knows nothing about what he's talking about, and he's making a ton of money on a grotesque display of someone else's life."
