Every Must-See Red Carpet Look From the 2026 Venice Film Festival
There's something about the Venice Film Festival that makes every red carpet entrance feel especially cinematic. Maybe it's the water taxis, the grand palazzos, or the fact that the festival has long attracted stars with a taste for fashion as considered as the films they're there to promote.
This year, the 83rd Venice Film Festival welcomes a typically starry lineup, from Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem to Dakota Johnson, Alicia Vikander, and Robert Pattinson . The slate, as usual, features awards-season hopefuls from leading auteurs, including Martin McDonagh's dark comedy Wild Horse Nine , Bucking Fastard with real-life sisters Rooney and Kate Mara, and Florian Zeller's Bunker , starring Cruz and Bardem.
George Clooney—whose trips to Venice with his wife, international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, are always a sight to behold—is set to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, as is actress Ellen Burstyn. Maggie Gyllenhaal will lead this year's jury, which includes composer and artist Daniel Blumberg, French director and screenwriter Xavier Giannoli, and producer Johnnie To. Gyllenhaal's directorial debut, The Lost Daughter , won Best Screenplay at the festival in 2021.
As always, the 2026 red carpet is sure to be one worth watching. Not only are major stars from the worlds of fashion and film due to attend, but in recent years, the festival has become a place where designers can preview their latest collections before fashion month officially begins.
