"I feel really lucky to have met somebody that has given me three beautiful little babes," she said on Today in 2024, adding, "We've created a life together and I'm pretty proud of us."

Longtime viewers of the morning show have been along for the ride since Mila arrived in 2013. The journalist and mom of three is candid about her parenthood experience, on TV and on social media—although she's admitted to becoming more careful about what she shares after receiving feedback from her kids.

"When your kids are young, they can't state if something makes them uncomfortable, and the older they get, they can," Jenna told Parents in August 2026, citing an incident where eldest daughter Mila was embarrassed by her mom reading a letter she'd sent from summer camp on-air. "It was such a good lesson because that changed everything for me," she explained. "I sort of ask myself before I speak, like, is this [just] for me?"

Jenna first became a mom on April 13, 2013, welcoming daughter Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager. Mila's grandparents announced the news of her arrival on Facebook, noting that she was named after both of her grandmothers—including former first lady Laura Bush .

Early on, Mila wasn't shy about voicing her opinions. In 2022, Jenna recounted a story on Today of the funny, frank way her firstborn greeted her as she returned from a work trip to Scotland. "And she held me so tight but immediately she kind of looked back, then looked at me and said, 'You're right mom.'"

"I'm like, 'I'm right about what?'" she said, noting that Mila replied, "You do look better in makeup."

When she's not delivering unintentional zingers, the 13-year-old is navigating adolescence. Thankfully, her mom's always there with a word of advice—including on the topic of "mean girls." Talking with co-host Sheinelle Jones in April 2026 , Jenna said she always tells Mila "about finding the people that brag on you, that make you feel good" rather than people that dim your light—a philosophy she says she learned from podcaster Brené Brown.

Jenna has also shared her relatable hesitance to get her teen a phone . "She's asked and begged for a phone since sixth grade, but that didn't mean I gave in. I held strong," she told Parents , adding that she waited until Mila started eighth grade to get her a phone. "But was it easy? No, it was not easy to wait, at all. [But] I'm happy I did it."

Jenna was made a girl mom times two with the arrival of her second daughter, Poppy Louise Hager , on August 13, 2015. While her name has a connection to the flower, it's also another family tribute.

"Poppy is named after Jenna's grandfather, George Herbert Walker "Poppy" Bush, a.k.a. Gampy. His nickname growing up was Poppy, and we are proud to name her after a man we so adore," Jenna and Henry said in a statement shared after Poppy's arrival.

Mila quickly took to being a big sister, even writing an adorable message to her sister which Jenna shared to Instagram . "My superhero is Mila because she is kind and nice. She gives me hugs. She gives me love," Mila wrote alongside a drawing of herself and Poppy. In the caption of the post, Jenna said, "Superpower sisterhood is all about loving our sisters and our friends just as they are!"

The sisters had the night of a lifetime in May 2023, as they attended Taylor Swift's Eras Tour with their parents in Massachusetts. "It was so much fun," Jenna recounted on the following week's Today , per People . "We listened to the playlist [before] so the girls could sing almost every word. ... We danced like crazy. It was Poppy's first concert. .. We stayed 'til the end, they were totally enjoying it."

Poppy turned 11 in 2026, a milestone her mom celebrated on social media, People reported. She wrote in an August 14 Instagram Story post, "Happiest birthday (a day late!) to my darling Poppy. Just like the flower: vibrant and effervescent. And the funniest in any room. You are loved." The caption was accompanied by a photo of the preteen posing in a garden while wearing a summery white dress.

Jenna and Henry's third child and first son, Henry Harold "Hal" Hager, arrived on August 2, 2019. His first name is "after many on his father's side including his dear dad and his paternal grandfather," Jenna told People soon after the birth. She added that his middle name "comes from my maternal grandfather, Pa," referring to Harold Welch , who died in 1995.

His nickname, Hal, comes from his sisters, Jenna said while calling into Today to share that her son had arrived and was doing well. "We weren't exactly sure about the name. Then his big sisters called him 'Hal pal,' and we thought, 'This is just perfect.'"

Hal has a special connection to one of Jenna's Today co-hosts: Savannah Guthrie is his godmother . "One of the things you may not know about Savannah and I is that Savannah is my son Hal Hager's godmother, and I am her daughter Vale's godmother," Jenna said on Today in 2025. She added that she and Guthrie have "really big conversations about faith" together.

Hal, who's now 7 years old, is starting first grade in the fall of 2026. "Kindergarten is like the sweetest time, but first grade, in many ways, is the start of his academic career," the mom of three said in her Parents interview, sharing that she and her husband helped Hal feel prepared by practicing reading with him every night while his sisters were at summer camp.

As for the possibility that Jenna would give Hal a younger sibling, she said on Today in March 2025 that she's "come to terms that three [kids], although it's an imperfect number, is a perfect number for our household."
