Where does Kim Mulkey get her outfits?
A Baton Rouge clothier Queen of Sparkles provides most of Mulkey's gameday attire.
LSU graduate Jaime Glas Odom runs the operation and has been putting together outfits for SEC football games and special occasions for years prior to her and Mulkey linking up for the gameday wardrobe.
According to the Queen of Sparkles web site, Odom "has always loved all things sparkles. Her passion for anything-but-boring clothes started with technicolor dance costumes and playing dress up."
When did Kim Mulkey start wearing her gameday outfits?
When Mulkey got her first head coaching job at Baylor more than 25 years ago, her attire was far more subtle than it is now. But over time, she began to don more flashy outfits later on in her time at Baylor.
But things really took off when Mulkey got to LSU back in 2021 and that's when the buzz of what Mulkey is wearing really picked up steam.
Why does Kim Mulkey wear coaching outfits?
The last few years, LSU has fittingly coined the women's basketball program, "The Show." There's several reasons for that, partly the players Mulkey and her coaching staff have brought in with big personalities and even louder skill sets.
Another part of that is Mulkey herself. And she knows it. The aura of "what is Kim Mulkey going to be wearing today?" has taken on a life of its own and that's why Mulkey has leaned all the way into wearing the boisterous outfits.
To her, it's a way to sell tickets, get people in the door and get people talking about her team. "It's all part of the show," she has said in the past.
