Craig Melvin Kids Are 'Copy & Paste' of Him and His Wife in Surprise 'Today' Appearance

Craig Melvin 's big day at work is a family affair!

Following Hoda Kotb 's recent departure from the program, the Today personality officially assumed his new position as co-anchor of the NBC morning show alongside Savannah Guthrie  on Monday, Jan. 13. 

To celebrate, Melvin's kids–son  Delanoand daughter  Sybil–as well as his wife, sports broadcaster  Lindsay Czarniak, surprised him in the studio during his on-air broadcast.

During the appearance, his wife of nearly 14 years explained that the kids wanted to share insight into the side of their dad that viewers don't get to see, so they came up with a list, which included things like "he loves to play with me," "he loves tickle fights," and watching TV with his daughter.

"He's a great dad and he deserves to be here today," his son added.

Surprisingly, it wasn't the children's sweet gesture–which Melvin dubbed " the best surprise "–that earned the attention of fans online, but rather how much Sybil resembles her mom and how much Delano looks like his dad.

"The most precious little kids!" one Instagram user gushed. "She is her mom's twin and baby boy is Craig's twin!! lol… what a beautiful family ❤️."

"They said copy & paste with those genes!" a second declared. "Beautiful family and wonderful celebration 🥰 congrats CM!"

"Moms genes strong," another joked.

"Love seeing his family to support him on his new role! Best wishes!" someone else cheered. "Wonderful to see all the ❤️🙌."

"This is beautiful and also the color coordination??" one more added. "I see you, Melvin family 👏🏻🙌🏻."
