Dua Lipa Is Being Praised For Her “Integrity” After She Said She’s Willing To Accept Backlash For Speaking Out On Political Issues Because It’s “For The Greater Good”
- Singer Dua Lipa faces backlash for speaking out on political issues, but she is willing to take the hit for the greater good.
Now more than ever, public figures are facing pressure to use their platforms to speak out on political or moral issues.
But while many celebrities have been criticized for not using their voice to help raise awareness and showcase their support, those who do also risk backlash from people who oppose their stance.
And singer Dua Lipa is all too familiar with the latter, with the star facing criticism for her continued support for Palestine in recent months.
In a new interview with Radio Times , Dua addressed her decision to speak up despite the backlash — and said that she is willing to take the hit if she feels that it is "for the greater good."

"When I speak about things that are political, I double-, triple-check myself to be, 'OK, this is about something that is way bigger than me, and it's necessary — and that's the only reason I'm posting it,'" she began. "That is my only solace in doing that."
"It's always going to be met with a backlash and other people's opinions, so it's a big decision," Dua went on. "I balance it out, because ultimately I feel it's for the greater good, so I'm willing to [take that hit]."
When pressed on why she feels the urge to get political when her chosen career is to be a musician, Dua said that speaking up on important topics is "a natural inclination" for her.
Dua then referenced her own heritage, with the star's parents, Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, living across Kosovo (which was then part of Yugoslavia) and Bosnia until the Bosnian War began in 1992.
They fled to London, England, to escape the conflict, and welcomed Dua in 1995.

"My very existence is somewhat political," Dua concluded. "It's not something that is out of the ordinary for me to be feeling close to."

And Dua has been widely praised for her comments, with many people expressing their admiration for her willingness to risk her career to speak out on issues that she believes are important.
Responding to a viral tweet about Dua's quotes on Tuesday, one person wrote : "She's got a huge platform and bigger balls than most since she uses it, more celebs need to step the fuck up."
Another praised Dua as they added : "Integrity seems to be in short supply these days, particularly with other notable pop-stars and actors who suddenly have no voice."
"Love her integrity and humanity," somebody else echoed .
Responding to Pop Crave's tweet about Dua's comments, somebody else wrote : "some girls won't be able to risk their careers and that's why she's a real one."
Another asked : "sweet, humble, doesn't get involved in drama, speaks on important issues, and makes bops. why would anyone not stan her?"
Several more urged other celebs to " take notes " and follow Dua's lead by becoming more vocal on important issues.
